This frequency list was obtained by processing the corpus files (tagged by means of GRAMPAL; Moreno & Guirao 2006) and using
SketchEngine (Kilgarriff et al. 2004). The following table breaks down the number of lexical units per Part-of-Speech category in each group
(total number of lexical units is ordered from highest to lowest absolute frequency).

The number of auxiliary verbs here shown only corresponds to those which do not occur in complex verb forms (he cantado, ‘I have singed’), passive voice (es amado, ‘He
is loved’), or verbal periphrasis (puede comer, ‘She can eat’)—these are counted as verbs. The total number of auxiliary verbs in our corpus is 992.
