Términos y Definiciones
Prepared Value (sometimes called Assigned
Value)
The prepared values are the design concentrations
for each analyte.
Valor Preparado (a veces llamado Valor
Asignado)
Es el valor de las concentraciones diseñadas para
cada analito.
Certified Value
The certified values of the chemical standards are
produced from the verification analyses conducted
by ERA’s accredited laboratory. The certified
values of the microbiological standards are the
mean of laboratory results from ERA’s proficiency
testing studies.
Valor Certificado
Valor de los estándares químicos resultantes de los
análisis de verificación realizados por un
laboratorio acreditado por ERA. Los valores
certificados de los estándares microbiológicos son
la media de los resultados de los estudios de
desempeño de ERA.
For chemical standards the stated Uncertainty is the
total propagated uncertainty at the 95% confidence
interval. The uncertainty is based on the
propagation of internal analytical verification of the
product by ERA, multiplied by a coverage factor
which is equal to the student’s t factor at the 95%
confidence interval with (n-1) degrees of freedom.
La incertidumbre indicada para los estándares
químicos es la propagada al intervalo de confianza
del 95% y se basa en la propagación de la
verificación analítica interna del producto por ERA,
multiplicado por un factor de cobertura que es igual
al factor “t” de los estudiantes al intervalo de
confianza del 95% con (n-1) grados de tolerancia.
For microbiological standards the stated
Uncertainty is the uncertainty at the 95%
confidence interval. This uncertainty is based on
analytical verification of this product by ERA using
common analytical methods for the quantitative
evaluation of microbiological samples. The
uncertainty applies to the product as supplied and
does not take into account any required or optional
dilutions and/or preparations the laboratory may
perform while using the product.
La incertidumbre indicada para los estándares
microbiológicos es la propagada al intervalo de
confianza del 95% y se basa en la verificación
analítica de este producto por ERA, usando
métodos analíticos comunes para la evaluación
cuantitativa de las muestras microbiológicas. La
incertidumbre se aplica al producto como fue
suministrado, sin tomar en cuenta diluciones
requeridas u opcionales y/o preparaciones que los
laboratorios puedan hacer mientras usan el
producto.
Outliers
Data points that fall outside the boundaries
enclosing most other data in the data set that could
lead to misleading statistical results. Outliers were
removed using the Grubbs t Test.
Desviaciones
Datos que caen fuera de los límites que incluyen la
mayoría de los demás datos y que podrían conducir
a un resultado estadístico engañoso. Las

Interlaboratory Mean
Calculated using all reported values after the
removal of outliers.

Interlaboratory Statistics
Summary of the data from all study participants for
the analyte of interest.
Estadísticas Interlaboratorios
Resumen de los datos del estudio de todos los
participantes para el analito de interés.
Reported Value
The result that was reported by your organization
for the particular analyte. Every effort has been
made to ensure correct data entry. Should you find
a data entry error, please notify ERA and we will
correct the error and re-issue the report. Any other
non-numeric value (e.g. BDL, ND, >10, etc.)
cannot be evaluated.
Valor Reportado
El valor reportado por su organización para el
analito de interés. Se han hechos todos los
esfuerzos posibles para el ingreso correcto de los
datos. Si encontrase un error en los suyos, por favor
notifique a ERA, lo corregiremos y emitiremos un
nuevo informe. Los datos no numéricos no pueden
re-evaluarse (p.ej.: BDL, ND, >10, etc.).
Relative Performance
Determined by the Reported Value's deviation from
the interlaboratory mean. Performance may have
one of following qualifiers:
Point of Excellence
Performance at this level was exceptional when
compared to the average performance of all
laboratories for the specified analyte. Statistically,
approximately 12% of results will have a relative
performance of Point of Excellence.
Good
Performance at this level was above average when
compared to the performance of all laboratories for
the specified analyte. Statistically, approximately
13% of results will have a relative performance of
Good.
Satisfactory
Performance at this level was average when
compared to the performance of all laboratories for
the specified analyte. Satisfactory performance
provides a solid foundation for quality
improvement. Statistically, approximately 65% of
results will have a relative performance of
Satisfactory.
Point of Opportunity
Performance at this level is considered marginal
when compared to the performance of laboratories
in the same study analyzing the same analyte. If
normally distributed, there is less than a 5% chance
that the laboratory's result was consistent with the
mean of the other laboratories. Statistically,
approximately 10% of results are Points of
Opportunity.
Point of Immediate Concern
Performance at this level is inconsistent with the
performance of all laboratories in the same study
running the same analyte and tends to indicate
systematic issue(s). Statistically, there is less than a
1% chance that the result was consistent with the
performance of other laboratories in the same
study.
Desempeño Relativo:
Determinado por la desviación de los valores
reportados de la media interlaboratorios. El
rendimiento puede tener una de las siguientes

Excelente:
El desempeño a este nivel fue excepcional
comparado con el desempeño promedio de todos
los laboratorios para el analito especificado.

Satisfactorio
El desempeño a este nivel estuvo en el promedio de
todos los laboratorios para el analito especificado.
El resultado Satisfactorio provee una base sólida
para mejorar la calidad. Estadísticamente, el 65%
de los resultados tendrán un desempeño relativo
Satisfactorio.
Mejorable
El desempeño a este nivel se considera marginal al
de los demás laboratorios en el estudio para el
mismo analito. Si la distribución fue normal,
existen menos de 5% de probabilidades que el
resultado de este laboratorio haya coincidido con la
media de los otros laboratorios. Estadísticamente,
el 10% de los resultados tendrán un desempeño
relativo Mejorable.
Preocupante
El desempeño a este nivel es inconsistente con el de
los demás laboratorios en el estudio para el mismo
analito, y tiende a indicar temas sistemáticos.
Estadísticamente, existe menos de 1% que el
resultado de este laboratorio hubiese sido
consistente co el desempeño de otros laboratorios
en el mismo estudio.
