Preschool Pike Swim Lesson 3 – 5 years The beginner swimmer; children who are first being introduced to the water, may not like getting face wet, or rely on floatation are best placed in this class. Preschool Ray Swim Lesson 3 – 5 years Child can swim independently at least 15 feet without flotation and can float for 20 seconds by themselves. Preschool Starfish Swim Lesson 3 – 5 years Child can swim 40 feet without assistance while using rhythmic breathing. Child has the ability to tread water and float for 30 seconds by themselves. The beginner swimmer, children who are first being introduced to the water, may not like getting their face wet or rely on flotation are best placed in this class. Youth Polliwog Swim Lesson 6 – 12 years Youth Guppy Swim Lesson 6 – 12 years Child is comfortable in the water, can swim 40 feet without flotation, can tread water and float for 30 seconds. Youth Minnow Swim Lesson 6 – 12 years Child must be able to swim 75 feet (25 yards) of each Front Crawl with refined rotary breathing and Backstroke. Skills such as breath control, kicking and body position are introduced through songs and games. The instructor will work with children to gain comfort in the water while working on basic skills such as breath control, floating and movement through the water. The instructor will work to improve form and endurance for Front Crawl and Backstroke. Breast Stroke, Elementary Backstroke and treading are introduced. The instructor will work on refining all primary strokes, improving endurance, introducing advanced strokes and diving. The instructor will work to help the child gain confidence in the water while working on basic skills of breath control, floating and coordinated movement. The instructor will work on refining primary strokes and endurance. Will begin working on Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke and Sidestroke. The instructor will work on building endurance and technique with all strokes and turns as well as improve personal safety and diving.
