Works of Mercy / Obras de la Misericordia
There are 7 spiritual works of mercy / Hay 7 obras espirituales de misericordia
Today we’re reflecting on the last Spiritual work of Mercy. This work of mercy is to pray
for the living and the dead. From the beginning, the Church has encouraged her faithful
ones to pray for the living and the dead as our Christian duty. We’re a family united in
Christ and it doesn’t matter if they are alive or dead, we share one love in God.
Hoy vamos a reflexionar en la última obra spiritual de misericordia. Esto no significa
que nos olvidaremos de ellas en la reflexión dominical. Esta obra de misericordia es
la de orar por los vivos y los difuntos. La Iglesia desde su inicio ha motivado a sus
fieles a orar por lo vivos y por los difuntos como parte de nuestro deber Cristiano de
orar los unos por los otros, porque somos una familia unida en Cristo y sin importar si
están vivos o difuntos todos compartimos un amor en Dios.
This love makes us aware that in God everyone is alive, because he is not a God of the
dead but of the living as we find in the gospel of Matthew. This God the living God wants us praying for one
another, because praying brings us closer to him. Praying helps us recognize that we need God always.
Praying makes us one in him, the rich and the poor are equal in front of God, Anglo and Latino, all of us are
united in him and
because of that we need to help each other.
Este amor nos hace conocedores que en Dios todos estamos vivos, porque Él no es un Dios de
muertos sino de vivos como dice el Evangelio de Mateo. Este Dios, el Verdadero Dios vivo quiere que
oremos los unos por los otros, porque la oración nos acerca más a Él. La oración nos ayuda a que
reconozcamos que necesitamos de Dios siempre. La oración nos hace uno en él; el rico y el pobre son
iguales ante Dios, el blanco y el negro, el americano o el latino todos somos uno unidos en Dios y por
eso debemos ayudarnos mutuamente.

 Request a mass intention for a friend or family member who is going through a tough time
 Request a mass intention for a friend or family member who has passed away
Keep your own book of prayer intentions, writing down the names of those who you are keeping in your
prayers
 Ask a friend or family member if there is anything you can pray for them
about
 Through prayer, entrust your cares and concerns for those around you to
God
