How to Get Your Criminal Record (“Court Docket”) or DOJ RAP Sheet
1. If your conviction is in San Joaquin County, you can request a copy of your criminal record in person at the courthouse where your file is held. Ø You can also look up your case number using the public kiosk at the Records Management building, located at 540 E. Main Street, Stockton, CA 95202, (209) 992-­‐5697. Their hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am and from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Ø You will need to request copies of each case that you have, specifically requesting the Complaint, the Minute Order from the date of Plea, and/or the Judgment. Ø There is a fee of 50-­‐cents per page. 2. If you have a conviction in a county other than San Joaquin, go to the Clerk’s Office in the Superior Court that handles criminal cases. o Visit http://www.safeandjust.org/county-­‐map/ to find the address and phone number for the Superior Court in each California county. o At the Clerk’s Office, fill out the “Records Request” form and select “Conviction Docs” on the form to obtain your criminal record information. This report (the “Court Docket”) will provide information about all your convictions within that county only. o Your Court Docket should be provided to you on the same day. If your Docket is longer than 25 pages, there may be a waiting period. o Your Court Docket should be free as long as you go into the Court yourself to request your own record; if anyone else requests your record for you, there is a charge of 50¢ per page. Ø NOTE: If you have convictions from several counties, you should get your California Department of Justice (DOJ) RAP Sheet by visiting a Live Scan provider. The Live Scan provider will take your fingerprints and submit a request to DOJ for your complete California criminal record.
