Aplicaciones científicas de la luz de sincrotrón_ X-ray absorption spectroscopy on liquid samples at CLÆSS beamline Período de prácticas: 2017 Tareas y objetivo de la estancia: X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Structure (XANES) spectroscopy offers an important nondestructive tool for determining oxidation states and for characterizing chemical speciation. At the same time Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy permit to access quantitative complementary information on the structural local properties. Differently from x-ray diffraction, x-ray absorption spectroscopy doesn’t require a crystal ordering, and it can be applied to the study of the matter, in all its forms: crystals, liquids, glasses, and gases. This project focuses on the investigation of different biological systems in liquid form, to investigate chronical diseases in physiological fluids. The selected candidate will deal with sample preparation, experiment execution, and a first approach of data analysis under the supervision of the CLÆSS staff.
