We are very excited for an eventful week! This week, our students will be
taking their cycle 2 interim assessments, perform at the winter festival, and
finish off the week with winter celebrations in their classes.
We are very proud of the ganas that our students have demonstrated these
past few weeks as they have challenged themselves to read harder books and
check their answers to their problems. As a parent you can help support your
child by making sure that they are at school on time and get a good night’s
rest.
We hope that everyone has a wonderful and restful winter vacation with family and friends. The first day back to
school is Tuesday, January 12th.

HSR Family Surveys
Thank you for taking the time to complete the KIPP Healthy Schools &
Regions Family Survey. All students whose families have completed the
HSR Survey by December 17th will be able to participate in Pajama Day
on Friday, December 18th. Link to the survey: http://www.kipp.org/

You will have two options to complete the survey:
1.Take it at home using your own computer, phone, or tablet.
2.Take the survey at KIPP Comienza during arrival from 7:20am – 7:45am
or dismissal from 4:00pm – 4:25pm. You may come to the Rita office to
get an iPad or Chromebook to take the survey. It will take about 5 minutes to complete.
Holiday Raffle
As part of our fundraising efforts for the 4th Grade Field Trip to Catalina Island, we will be holding a Holiday Raffle
during the Winter Festival on December 17th. Prizes will include gift baskets, children’s books, tickets to Dodger
Games, Disneyland, the aquarium, and other fun locations! Prizes will be raffled off at the end of each Winter
Festival Performance. For more information about when to buy tickets, please see the letter that was sent home
about the raffle. If you would like to donate any prizes to the raffle, please see Ms. Huberman. Friendly Holiday Decor Competition
We will be having a holiday decor competition. Classrooms who want to participate will need to decorate their
doors by Thursday, 12/17, at 10:00am. Be creative and have fun! The class with the most festive and zesty door
will receive a small prize. There will be a winner at Seville and another at Rita. -ELA Interim Assessments

This Thursday will be our annual winter festival, where students perform their favorite winter song or poem. The

Our Winter Celebration will take place in classrooms on Friday,
December 18th. This event will be coordinated by classroom
representatives. Please reach out to your classroom representative if
you would like to help. All potlucks should promote healthy eating.
All classrooms will have the same sign up sheet for food to ensure
that potlucks are consistent across the school. Please note that school lunch will not be served on this date.
December 18th is a minimum day and students will be released at 1:00pm (K-1) and 1:10pm (2GR-4GR). Please
ensure that your child is picked up on time.

Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para completar la Encuestas
Familiares de Escuelas y Regiones Saludables, El propósito de estas
encuestas es permitir que todos los miembros de la comunidad
escolar nos digan lo que estamos haciendo bien, qué podemos
mejorar, y para comprender mejor los factores que son más
importantes en la conducción de resultados de los estudiantes.

Rifa de Invierno
Como parte de nuestros esfuerzos de recaudación de fondos para el paseo a la Isla de Catalina,

Competencia de Decoración Festivo
Vamos a tener un concurso de decoración navideña. Las clases que quieran participar tendrán que decorar sus
puertas para jueves, 12.17, a las 10:00 am. ¡Sé creativo y diviértete! La clase con la puerta más festivo recibirá
un pequeño premio. Habrá un ganador en Seville y otro en Rita.
