LAY MINISTRY FORMATION

LEADERSHIP

Already serving the parish in a ministry posi on but wishing you had a stronger founda on?
 You’re in a leadership posi on in the parish, but you know that understanding more about the
teachings of the church would be beneficial?
The Diocese is developing a program called Lay Ministry Formation and Leadership. Meetings will be held
one Saturday per month for ten months starting in August. An Information Session will be held at Our Lady of
the Snows Parish on Wednesday, April 6th at 6:30PM. Please bring your questions. Go online to find registration

If you pass by these loca ons please drop off some really needed non-perishable can goods for the
pantry such as: Peanut Bu er, Tuna Fish, Canned Chicken, Beef Raviolis, Soups.
Please inspect your food items before placing them in the barrel for any dents, expired dated food
items or anything opened. Unfortunately several bags of food were thrown away that had been
opened and had expira on dates earlier than 2014.

CEMETERY SERVICES
The Community Outreach Staff from Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery, a Ministry of the Diocese of Reno, will be here on April 2nd & 3rd to discuss the spiritual & practical reasons for learning about
Catholic Funeral Rites and Cemetery Services. After each Mass, there will be a short presentation along
with a Q&A session.
Our Catholic Funeral tradition affirms our belief in the communion of saints and our trust in Jesus’
promise of everlasting life. Burying the dead is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy, incumbent upon every Christian. The Church’s rituals enable us to honor our dearly departed with solemn and tender devotion. I take this opportunity to recommend that all Catholics explore the services offered by Our Mother
of Sorrows to better understand the spiritual and financial benefits of planning ahead for their funeral and
cemetery needs.
The burial plans they offer are flexible, affordable, & designed to meet your cemetery needs. Their
facility, close parish relationships and compassionate counselors ensure that your funeral Mass & burial
committal are well planned. Their onsite Most Holy Redeemer Chapel has capacity for 80 and is picturesque with its hand laid mosaic works of art, stained glass and traditional Catholic altar.
By taking advantage of this opportunity to understand the importance of a Catholic funeral and burial,
you will walk away with a better understanding of the importance and ease of planning ahead to ensure
peace of mind for you and your family.

The centering prayer workshop will teach a method of silent prayer that is rooted in the Christian contemplative
heritage. It is a gentle silent method of consenting to Godʼs presence and healing action within us. By taking time
to “rest in God” each day, we open our awareness to the gift of Godʼs presence. Come learn more about this
prayer method. There will be 3 follow-up sessions of 2 hours each thereafter on April 28th, May 5th and May 12th
(6:30-8:30PM). The suggested donation for the workshop is $40, that includes materials, Fr Keatingʼs book
Open Mind Open Heart, refreshments during the workshop & registration for the contemplative outreach newsletter. Scholarships are available upon request. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch. To assist in planning please call Ann at (775) 762-3115.
