In Spanish, a pronoun is only needed when referring to a
third person (singular or plural) for proper identification
purposes.
Answers the question To or for whom? Or To or for
what?
The indirect object tells us where the direct object is going.
In the sentence, “He buys me flowers”, He buys flowers for
me., The direct object is flowers (because that’s what he
buys) and the indirect object is me because I am the one
for whom he buys the flowers.
