I feel that I have begun to settle down in my
new assignment in the parish. Last week on
my day off I went to visit my sisters in El
Monte, California. It was reassuring to see
them after my ordination. Family support is
very essential in order to be strengthened in
order to continue with my ministry. I feel
that only being brought up in a large family I
have had the opportunity to be exposed to
good family values. I know that they were
challenging times, but in contrast I was able
to see God’s grace in it. It was like God had
put me ina place where I was going to be nurtured physically and spiritually.
I feel blessed and greatful to be here at St.
Thomas Aquinas Parish. The parishioners are
like my other family, who have been giving
me the opportunity to serve them. I truly
believe that by serving our brothers and sisters around us we are serving our brother
Jesus.
On August 23-25 a La Escuela de la Cruz
were giving a retreat to a group of gentlemen
here in Bethany Hall. You saw that they covered the windows and they were closed with
black plastic. The idea to cover them was to
have complete separation for the retreatants
from the outside world. The founder began
to do these retreats in prisons in 1965 in Mexico. It had been approved by our Pope John
Paul II.
The main focus of the Escuela de la Cruz is to
help married and single men to true apostles.
This will help them to have a personal encounter with Jesus. They will be motivated to
take good care of their families, and they will
be open to help the pastors in parishes with
their ministries.

Siento que he empezado a asentarse en mi
nuevo trabajo en la parroquia. La semana
pasada en mi día fui a visitar a mis hermanas
en El Monte, California. Fue reconfortante ver
que después de mi ordenación. El apoyo familiar es muy importante con el fin de reforzar el
fin de continuar con mi ministerio. Siento que
sólo se crió en una familia grande que he tenido
la oportunidad de estar expuestos a los buenos
valores familiares. Sé que eran tiempos difíciles,
pero a diferencia de que era capaz de ver la gracia de Dios en él. Era como si Dios me había
puesto ina lugar donde iba a ser nutrido física y
espiritualmente.
Me siento bendecido y agradecido de estar aquí
en la Parroquia de Santo Tomás de Aquino. Los
feligreses son como mi otra familia, que me han
estado dando la oportunidad de servirles. Sinceramente, creo que al servir a nuestros hermanos y hermanas que nos rodean estamos
sirviendo a nuestro hermano Jesús.
En 23 a 25 agosto a La Escuela de la Cruz estaban dando un retiro a un grupo de gentelement
aquí en Bethany Hall. Usted vio que cubrían las
ventanas y que estaban cerrados con plástico
negro. La idea para cubrirlos era tener seperationg completa para los restreatants del mundo
exterior. El fundador comenzó a hacer estos
retiros en las prisiones de 1965 en México.
Había sido aprobado por nuestro Pople Juan
Pablo II.
El objetivo principal de la Escuela de la Cruz es
ayudar a los hombres casados y solteros a los
verdaderos apóstoles. Esto le ayudará a tener
un encuentro personal con Jesús. Ellos estarán
motivados para cuidar bien de sus familias, y
que será abierta para ayudar a los pastores de
las parroquias con sus ministerios.

Hermanos y hermanas, he decidido
proclamar por toda la Iglesia el 7 de
septiembre siguiente, la vigilia del
nacimiento de María, Reina de la Paz,
un día de ayuno y oración por la paz
en Siria, Oriente Medio y en todo el
mundo, y también invito a cada persona, incluyendo a nuestros hermanos
cristianos, los seguidores de otras religiones ya todos los hombres de
buena voluntad, a participar, de
cualquier manera que pueda, en esta
iniciativa (Pope Francis).
Brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole
Church on 7 September next, the
vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen
of Peace, a day of fasting and
prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the
world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions
and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in
this initiative.(Pope Francis)

Did you know that bullying is a form of abuse,
and therefore is forbidden in our Catholic
schools? Bullying typically consists of direct behaviors, such as teasing, taunting, threatening,
hitting, shoving and stealing. But it might also be
indirect, such as spreading rumors that cause
victims to be socially isolated through intentional
exclusion. Cyberbullying, which involves the use
of the Internet or mobile phones to send inappropriate messages and images to or about others, is
also behavior that is not tolerated in our Catholic
schools. If you suspect bullying of a child at
school, please contact the school principal with
your concerns.
El hostigamiento es una forma de abuso
