1. Environment overview
The CIESE-Comillas is located in the Modernist town of Comillas, a place of
undeniable natural beauty bathed by the Cantabrian Sea and the Picos de Europa
mountains as a backdrop.
Its amazing artistic heritage makes of Comillas a reference of the modernist style
typical of the late nineteenth century, with Antonio Gaudí as the most relevant
representative.
Its varied cultural offer, its summer nightlife and its superb beaches are some of the
attractions that make visiting this enclave a global and unique experience.
2. Brief description about the University
The Comillas Foundation is an institution which is internationally renowned in the
teaching, research and spreading of the Spanish Language and its Culture. It is a
meeting point for very different groups of people who are all attracted by the same
objective: to create knowledge in Spanish.
One of the major characteristics of CIESE- Comillas is the adaptation of their course
programs to specific needs, both for students and teachers.
3. Course
Cinema, television and literature: cultural resources to introduce in the Spanish
class.
Description of the course
This course pretends to provide students the opportunity to study in depth the reality
of Spanish culture and its process of transfer to the Spanish class for foreign people.
Particularly, through cinema, television and literature.
Duration
It’s a three-week course (60 hours, theory and practice, 8-26 July, 2013).

5. Accommodations
In order to maintain a more direct contact with the people of Comillas, Homestay
accommodation will be offered in families of Comillas. Thanks to this option,
students would be made to feel at home and be included in their daily life and would
also be involved in the culture, traditions and lifestyle of Spain, and more
specifically, of Comillas.
6. Transport
General information:
Santander, the capital city of Cantabria, has an excellent communications by plane,
by train or by road.
• By road: Santander is 200 km. from the French border (A8), 360 km. from Madrid
and has highway connections with all of Europe. There are bus routes with many
Spanish and European cities. Comillas is connected with Santander by bus.
• By train: there are regular train services with Madrid, Barcelona and the other
Spanish regional capitals, as well as with the French border.
• By plane: there are direct flights to Santander from many Spanish and international
destinations, including low-cost airlines. Additionally, there are a number of airports
close to Comillas with international connections, amongst which are Bilbao, Asturias,
Valladolid or Santiago.
• By Ferry: the Plymouth- Santander ferry is a convenient option for those students
travelling from Great Britain who wish to travel with their own vehicle. The Comillas
Foundation offers a Transfer Service from Santander airport, train station and bus
station.
Additionally, there are several airports with international connections near Comillas,
among which are Bilbao, Asturias, Valladolid and Santiago.
Pickup services (optional):
If requested, the Comillas Foundation could fixe a pickup service from the Santander
or Bilbao Airport or from the bus and train station of Santander. This service is not
included in the fees of this program (Please, check prices with the staff of the
Foundation).
7. Health Insurance
Students will have to contract a health insurance which covers them during the
course.
8. Certification
Once finished the course the student will receive a Certificate from the CIESEComillas.

1. Información general del entorno
El CIESE-Comillas se encuentra en la villa modernista de Comillas, un paraje de
innegable belleza natural bañada por el mar Cantábrico y con los Picos de Europa
como telón de fondo.
El sorprendente patrimonio histórico-artístico con el que cuenta hace de Comillas un
referente del estilo modernista propio de finales del siglo XIX, donde la huella más
relevante es sin duda, la de Antonio Gaudí.
Su oferta cultural variada, su animado ambiente nocturno o sus magníficas playas son
algunos de los atractivos que hacen obligado visitar este enclave.
2. Breve descripción de la Universidad
El Centro Internacional de Estudios Superiores del Español, CIESE-Comillas, es una
institución de referencia internacional en la formación, investigación y difusión de la
lengua española y la cultura hispánica. Constituye un lugar de encuentro para
públicos muy diversos atraídos por un mismo fin: la creación de conocimiento en
español.
Se caracteriza por la máxima adaptación de sus programas a las necesidades
concretas, tanto de estudiantes como de profesores.
3. Curso
“El cine, la televisión y la literatura: recursos para llevar la cultura a la clase de
español”
Descripción del curso
El curso pretende proporcionar a los alumnos la oportunidad de profundizar en la
realidad cultural española y en su proceso de traslación al aula de ELE. En concreto,
a través del cine, la televisión y la literatura.
Duración
Se trata un curso de tres semanas (60 horas teórico-prácticas), que se desarrollará
del 8 al 26 de julio del 2013.
Horario
El horario del curso será de cuatro horas diarias en horario de mañana, con la
siguiente secuenciación:
9:00 h.-11:00 h. Primera sesión
11:00 h.-11:30 h. Descanso
11:30 h. -13.30 h. Segunda sesión
Participantes por grupo
El curso tendrá un número de participantes de entre 15 y 20.

Actividades culturales relacionadas con el folklore local al coincidir el curso
con las fiestas de Comillas (Santo Cristo del Amparo): procesión del Cristo,
fuegos artificiales (programa en curso de elaboración - Ayuntamiento de
Comillas).

La excursión de fin de semana consiste en una jornada de visitas un sábado:

5. Alojamiento
Con el fin de mantener un contacto más directo con la ciudadanía de Comillas, se
ofrece convivir en las casas de los vecinos de la villa, que integran al estudiante en
sus hogares y comparten con él su día a día. De esta forma el estudiante no sólo
cubrirá sus necesidades de alojamiento y manutención, sino que podrá compartir
cultura, tradiciones y forma de vida de España, y más concretamente, de Comillas.
6. Transporte
Información general:
Comillas dispone de frecuentes y rápidas conexiones por autobús con Santander, la
capital de la región.
El acceso a Santander se realiza por diferentes medios:
• Por carretera. Santander está situada a 200 km. de la frontera con Francia (A8), a
360 km. de Madrid (A1) y dispone de conexiones por autopista con toda Europa.
Existen líneas de autobús con numerosas ciudades españolas y europeas.
• Por Ferry. La línea Plymouth-Santander es una fórmula conveniente para aquellos
estudiantes originarios de Gran Bretaña que deseen viajar con su propio vehículo
(www.brittanyferries.es).
• Por Tren. Existen líneas regulares con Madrid, Barcelona y el resto de capitales
españolas, así como la frontera francesa (www.renfe.esywww.feve.es)
• Por Avión. Con vuelos directos a Santander desde numerosos destinos españoles e
internacionales (www.iberia.es), incluidas líneas de bajo coste.
Adicionalmente, existen varios aeropuertos dotados de conexiones internacionales
cercanos a Comillas, entre los que se encuentran Bilbao, Asturias, Valladolid y
Santiago.
Servicios de recogida (opcional):
A solicitud del interesado, la Fundación Comillas podría realizar un servicio de
recogida desde el Aeropuerto de Santander o Bilbao o desde las estaciones de
autobuses y tren de Santander. Este servicio no está incluido en la matricula del
presente programa (consultar tarifas con el personal de la Fundación).
7. Seguro Médico
Los estudiantes tendrán que contratar su propio seguro médico, vigente durante el
tiempo que estén cursando sus estudios con nosotros.
8. Certificación
El CIESE-Comillas otorga un certificado al finalizar el curso.
