Easter—the Ascension of Our
Lord
“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to every creature…” Mark 16:15 Dear Friends;
In her song What if God Was One of Us? Joan
Osbourne raises the question of where we might look
for God.
If God had a name, what would it be?
And would you call it to his face,
If you were faced with Him in all His glory?
What would you ask if you had just one question?

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus

If God had a face, what would it look like?

'Cept for the Pope, maybe, in Rome
In the video there is a cut out of the famous
Michelangelo painting of God-the-Father reaching out
his hand to create Adam. The cutout has a hole for the
face. People are putting their own faces for that of God
and having their picture taken. The video suggests that
we should look for the face of God in one another.
As Christians we believe that God took form in the
human flesh of Jesus. Jesus is the human face of God.
We can call him by name.
Today we celebrate the Ascension. Jesus, who has risen
from the dead, returns to the Father. And they gift us
with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit continues Jesus’
presence in us! The Jesus who was limited to the
presence of one human being is now present in all
people and creation. God now continues to take flesh in
poor “slobs” like us!
This is Good News. God became human in Jesus so that
we can now share in his divine life. He is present in and
among us. We come to experience this gift of the Spirit
through the gathering of his Risen Body—the Church, in
the Word, and the sacraments. We experience it most
especially in the gift of the Eucharist which is his
ongoing memorial and living presence.
Why does Jesus continue his presence among us? So we
can continue his mission in the world: gathering all
people and creation as one, healing the broken, forgiving
sin, showing mercy to those at the margins, to be his
love in the world. St Theresa of Avila (1515-1582)
speaks of who we are in the mystery of Christ’s death,
resurrection and ascension, and the gift of the Spirit:
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks with compassion
on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks with compassion
on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Pascua—La Asunción del Señor
“"Vayan por todo el mundo y proclamen la buenas nuevas a toda criatura..." Marcos 16:15 Como Cristianos, creemos que Dios ha tomado forma en
la carne humana de Jesús. Jesús es el rostro humano de
Dios. Podemos llamarlo por su nombre.
En su canción What if God Was One of Us? Joan
Osbourne plantea la cuestión de dónde podríamos
buscar a Dios.
Hoy celebramos la Ascensión. Jesús, que ha resucitado
de entre los muertos, vuelve al padre. Y ellos nos dan el
regalo del Espíritu Santo. El Espíritu continúa la
presencia de Jesús en nosotros! El Jesús que se limitaba
a la presencia de un ser humano está presente en todos
los pueblos y creación. Dios continua ahora a tomar
carne en "vagos" como nosotros!

Si, si, Dios es bueno

Qué tal si Dios fuera uno de nosotros?
¿Sólo un vago como uno de nosotros?
Un extraño en el autobús
¿Tratando de hacer su camino a casa
Esto es una buena noticia. Dios se hizo humano en Jesús
para que ahora podemos compartir su vida divina. Está
presente en y entre nosotros. Vamos a experimentar este
don del Espíritu a través de la obtención de su cuerpo
resucitado — la iglesia, en la palabra y los sacramentos.
Lo experimentamos más especialmente en el don de la
Eucaristía que es su presencia actual y viva.
Queridos Amigos;

Y que querrías ver si ver significa que tienes que creer
En cosas como el cielo y en Jesús y los Santos
¿Y todos los profetas? Y..

Excepto quizá el Papa de Roma
En el video hay un recorte de la famosa pintura de
Michelangelo de Dios-el-padre extendiendo su mano
para crear a Adán. El recorte tiene un orificio para el
rostro. Las personas ponen sus propias caras por el de
Dios y toman una foto. El vídeo sugiere que debemos
buscar el rostro de Dios en el otro.
¿Por qué Jesús continúa su presencia entre nosotros?
Para que podamos continuar su misión en el mundo:
reuniendo a todas las personas y creación como uno,
perdonando el pecad, sanando al roto,, mostrando
misericordia a aquellos en los márgenes, para ser su
amor en el mundo. Santa Teresa de Ávila (1515-1582)
habla de quiénes somos en el misterio de la muerte,
resurrección y ascensión de Cristo y el don del espíritu:
"CRISTO no tiene otro cuerpo que el TUYO;
no tiene MANOS ni pies en la tierra, excepto los TUYOS.
Tuyos son los OJOS a través de los cuales
El mira a este mundo con COMPASION en este mundo
TUYAS son las manos
con las que El bendice a todo el mundo.
Tuyas son las manos, tuyos son los pies
Cristo no tiene mas cuerpo que el tuyo
No manos, no pies en la tierra mas que los tuyos
Tuyos son los ojos con las que el mira el mundo.
Cristo no tiene mas cuerpo en la tierra mas que e tuyo.
