T his Sunday is known, generally, as "Good Shepherd Sunday." Every year, the readings on this Sunday deal in one way or another with Christ, the Shepherd. Here, He calls each sheep by name. In other words, the Shepherd has made a "pet" of each sheep in His flock. YOU, with all your nuttiness, sinfulness, rebelliousness, and general obnoxiousness are the personal "pet" of the Good Shepherd. God seeks you out, puts you on His metaphorical shoulders and leads you Home. The Bible recounts the odd places God finds us, from slavery in Egypt, to oppression in Babylon, to the proverbial "pig pen" in Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son. God finds us and brings us back. If you are "back," now--in a good, and safe place, be grateful. If you are not, help is on the way. But one thing to consider on Good Shepherd Sunday is that the "hands and feet of God" are very much our own...God uses us to do His shepherding! He sees His "pet" in peril, and puts us, another "pet," in just the right place to do something to help. Who needs YOUR help, right now? -Fr. -Padre Bill Axe WHERE THERE’S A WILL THERE’S A WAY St Agatha is a special place, where we are touched daily by God’s presence among us. T he readings today talk to us about following the “voice” of the one who leads us to God. Christ used the image of sheep, as it was very familiar to the Jews, not so much with us. We are not asked to succumb to an unthinking herd mentality, but to listen discerningly to the call of Christ. God wants us to come to know the voice of Jesus, so that we will not mistake it for other voices. We can ask ourselves: How can I tell the voice of Jesus from other voices that might call to me? What are some of the perils of falling into the “herd instinct”? I wish all Mothers a wonderful Mother’s Day and hope that you all have a beautiful day with loved ones. You are a treasure to your families and to St. Agatha’s. May 17—Youth Group, Contact Maggie "NOBODY CAN DO EVERYTHING BUT EVERYBODY CAN DO SOMETHING" What an awesome post Resurrection Celebration our guests had, Thanks be to God and our caring church family we served our guests a hot sit down put your feet under the table meal. Our recognition of "EVERYBODY CAN DO SOMETHING "was in full force. Juan M, Alicia and a nameless saint donated the turkeys, Yolanda, Marion S, Norma McQ, Ana Z, and Maria Z cooked and carved the turkeys, Gladys G donated a can of green beans and rolls, Linda F and family donated the cakes, Azalie made the gravy and yams, Yolando made the punch, Margie cooked the rice and string beans. Azalie and Yolanda provided the leadership for our faithful volunteers, Maria Z, David, Rolando, Enrique, Emileo, Joshue, Celeste, Vikki, Katherine and Ron to assist in preparing and serving the meal. Ron Morrow is Yolanda's Dad he had come to spend the weekend with Yolanda and her family. Ron prayed over us prior to our serving our guests. We found his May 24—SHARE Ministry, Contact Margie message stimulating and soul touching. When Ron held hands and prayed over our guests the circle was quiet as our guests listened, absorbing his message that was so encouraging and full of hope that Ron called on God to deliver and bless them with. This was one of those days that you sigh and say mmmmm, mmmmmm, "Ain't God something look at what He did this day yeah our God shurr nuff is AWESOME". Amen When you purchase your ride tickets for the festival if you are able please pick up extra for our Saturday Children and put in an envelope with S.H.A.R.E. and either give to Yolanda Morrow after the 8"30 AM Mass on any Sunday or place in the offertory basket for S.H.A.R.E. Thank you. May God who is the provider bless and fill your daily journey with what is needed to feed your soul and to stimulate and sustain your spirit. Amen. Blessings, The S.H.A.R.E. Ministry.
