This month we are highlighting Ms. Hernandez and Ms. Rodon. Ms. Denise Hernandez occupies our first classroom 201 from the whole school! This is her 5th year teaching at SER-Niños Charter School. She graduated from University of Texas in San Antonio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught kindergarten in San Antonio, Texas before coming to SERNiños. Ms. Hernandez is our new reading coach at SERNiños. She truly believes that reading is very important for children. Reading is not only important academically and to build their vocabulary and ability to write, but it teaches students about the world around them. It is entertaining, exercises their brain and develops a child’s imagination. Ms. Hernandez loves teaching students and loves learning from them! It is such a joy for her to be with her students and watch them grow and develop. She got her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Public Health from USF in Tampa, Florida. Since a very young age, she has been teaching as a volunteer in her church, tutoring when she was in college and also as a Spanish Cathedral Assistant. She has been teaching for 7 years and she loves it! Ms. Rodon likes to encourage her students to their full potential and learn from them!
