NO FEAR TO DARE
Una persona moderna, contemporánea, sin miedo al color y
poco tradicional; que sabe que atreverse no implica perder el aire
acogedor de su habitación. Este es el cliente virtual que inspiró el
espacio diseñado por Caroline Woodbridge, de InDesign.
La arquitecta seleccionó piezas contrastantes en estilos y materiales,
pero conducidas por un hilo común: todas aportan un valor de
calidez y complemento a la madera predominante. Las lámparas
colgantes de flores plásticas rompen con el paradigma de las
tradicionales de mesa y, sin ser las que marcan completamente el
espacio, le dan el toque final.
El arte utilizado en la pared de fondo y la tapicería de lino amarillo
en la silla de lectura definieron la paleta de colores: agresiva y
sobria, pero curiosamente relajante.
“Es una paleta flexible. Pusimos morado en una pared y acentos en
amarillo que dan atrevimiento pero no cansan. Todo va unido con el
color de base: el gris”, ilustró.
Además del predominio de la madera, el ojo se dirige fácilmente a
los metales de distintos colores presentes en las sillas, lámpara y
escritorio. Objetos curvos, como el espejo, la figura en el cuadro de
fondo y la escultura de madera, suavizan lo atrevido.
El dormitorio evidencia que ser moderno no tiene por qué ser frío.
El plástico, el metal, la madera y el cuerpo pueden ser realmente
acogedores.

A modern, contemporary person who is not afraid of color and
breaking from the norm, who knows that taking a risk does not
mean her room has to lose its charming nature. This is the virtual
client who inspired the space designed by Caroline Woodbridge, of
InDesign.
The architect selected contrasting styles and materials in her pieces,
but all of them had something in common: they all provided warmth
and complemented the predominant wooden elements. Hanging
plastic flower lamps broke with the traditional table, and without
completely taking over the space, gave it a finishing touch.
Art used on the back wall and yellow linen fabric on the reading
chair defined the color palette: aggressive and simple, but curiously
relaxing.
“It’s a flexible palette. We put purple on the wall with yellow accents
that dare, but don’t tire. Everything matches the base color of gray,”
she explained. In addition to the predominant wooden elements,
the eye easily travels to the different colored metals present in the
chairs, lamp and desk. Curved objects, such as the mirror, the figure
in the painting at the back and the wooden sculpture, make the room
less daring.
The bedroom is evidence that being modern does not mean being
cold. Plastic, metal, wood and leather can be very warm.
