SHHS Calculator Information
In order to better prepare students for the technological world in which they must live and work, the
Sacred Heart High School Math Department requires all students enrolled in a math class to
have a graphics calculator for classroom and homework use. Students may rent a calculator
through the school or acquire one elsewhere. Although they are not required to have a specific
brand/model graphics calculator, the Texas Instruments TI-84+ will be used as the “official
calculator” in all math courses.
To provide equity for students and ensure that they are not dependent on the calculator for certain
tasks, calculators with certain advanced computing features, such as the TI-89, will not be
permitted this year. To preserve equity in testing situations, certain calculators with advanced
capabilities may not be allowed for use on classroom tests.
Students purchasing a calculator are encouraged to buy the TI-84+. Other calculators that are
acceptable for class are the TI-83+ and the TI-84+ Silver Edition.
You must pay the front office and show Mrs. Collier Damiani your receipt before a calculator will be
issued to a student.
Please Pay by Cash or you can make checks payable to Sacred Heart High School.
To rent a TI-84+: Return a completed Rental Contract and cash or check for $40.00 for the
year.
Priority will be given to students who pay rental fees on time. Late payment could result in a
delayed delivery of several weeks. Rental calculators will be issued only if both a completed
Rental Contract and rental fees have been received.
Each student is responsible for the security of his/her own calculator, and renters must pay
for lost/stolen/damaged rental calculators. Rental calculators are engraved with a Sacred Heart
High School identification number. Students who purchase a calculator should arrange through
their math teacher to have it engraved with their name or use the engraver available. The school
system will keep a log of serial numbers and will assist in locating lost calculators whenever
possible.
NOTE: Students may not use the TI-89 in the classroom during the school year.
Furthermore, other calculators with computer algebra systems like the TI-89, will be
disallowed. Check with a math teacher if you have questions whether a model not listed
here will be permitted in the classroom.
Note: There will be no calculator sales through Sacred Heart High School, we do not sell
them.

Para mejor preparar nuestras alumnas para el mundo de tecnología, el Departamento de
Matemática de Sacred Heart High School requiere que todas alumnas quienes toman clases del
Algebra 2 Honores o mas avansadas tengan una calculadora gráfica para usar en clase y para la
tarea.
Las alumnas pueden alquilar una en la escuela o comprarla en otro lugar. Aunque no hay un
modelo específico, el modelo Texas Instruments TI-84+ es la calculadora oficial que se usará en
clases particulares y es la calculadora que se alquilará en la escuela.
Para asegurar que las alumnas no dependan solamente en la calculadora para ciertos trabajos,
las calculadoras con características avanzadas de computadores (como el TI-89) no seran
permitidas este año ni en clase o para los examenes.
Se sugiere que las alumnas que prefieren comprar su calculadora compren TI-84+ Silver Edition o
TI-84+.
Las maestros del Departamento de Matemática seran encargadas en colectar el contrato y el
honorario para las alumnas que prefieren alquilar la calculadora. Se acepta efectivo o cheque
pagable a: Sacred Heart High School.
EL COSTE PARA ALQUILAR LA CALCULADORA OFICIAL TI-84+
ES $40 POR AÑO Y EL CONTRATO
Prioridad se dará a las alumnas que paguen a tiempo. Al estar tarde, es posible que tarden en
recibir la calculadora. Se debe entregar el Contrato y Honorario para recibir la calculadora. Las
dos (2) cosas son necesarias.
Cada alumna es responsable por la seguridad de su calculadora. La escuela tiene una
grabadora para poner el nombre. Hablen con la maestra.
Las calculadoras que se aquilan ya estan grabadas con un número de identificacion de
Sacred Heart High School. Esta informacion se mantiene en un archivo y si se pierde
alguna calculadora, es mas facil idlentificarla.
RECUERDEN: No se permite el uso de TI-89 o otras con sistemas de computadores este
año escolar. Por favor de hablar con la maestra de matemáticas tocante un modelo que no
sea TI-84+ o TI-84+ Silver Edition.
Nota: No hay venta de calculadoras en Sacred Heart High School.
