Dr. Joan Puig Barberà El Dr Joan Puig-Barberà es Médico de Familia, Doctor en Medicina y Master en Salud Pública. Desarrolla su actividad como Investigador Senior en el Área de Investigación en Vacunas de la Fundación para el Fomento de la Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de la Comunidad Valenciana (FISABIO - Salud Pública) y es el responsable del área de Programas de Promoción de la Salud del Centro de Salud Pública de Castellón. Es miembro activo de la Sociedad Valenciana de Médicos de Familia (SVMFYC), de la Sociedad Española de Médicos de Médicos de Familia (SEMFYC), de la Asociación Española de Vacunología (AEV), de la Internacional Society for Vaccines (ISV) y de la Internacional Society for Influenza and other Respiratory Virus Diseases (ISIRV). Ha llevado a cabo revisiones sistemáticas (vacunas contra la gripe y neumococo), estudios observacionales sobre efectividad de la vacuna contra la gripe pandémica, adyuvada y no adyuvante; efectividad de la vacuna contra la varicela, hepatitis A y un gran estudio poblacional sobre la incidencia de la tos ferina en adultos. Además ha participado como investigador principal en varios ensayos clínicos de fase II y III (vacunas contra el meningococo B, herpes simple, virus del papiloma humano, hepatitis B y herpes zóster). En la actualidad es Investigador Principal y coordinador de la Valencia Hospital Network for the Study of Influenza and other Respiratory Viruses (VAHNSI) e Investigador Principal y coordinador de la Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network (GIHSN) en la que participan 25 hospitales de España, Rusia, Turquía, China y Brasil. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Joan Puig-Barberà Dr. Joan Puig-Barberà is a Family Physician, has achieved a PhD and a Master in Public Health. He is working in the Vaccines Research Unit, in the Centre for Public Health Research, Valencia, in Spain. He is a Senior Researcher at the Vaccine Research Area in Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian region (FISABIO - Public Health) and is responsible for the Health Promotion Programs Area at the Center of Public Health in Castellon, Valencia, Spain. He is also member of the Spanish Vaccinology Association, the European Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the International Society for Vaccines. He acts on behalf of the Family Physicians Valencia Association as a counselor in the Valencia Advisory Immunizations Committee. He is a member of the Primary Health Care Ethics Research Committee of Valencia and acts as a consultant in advisory boards for pharmaceutical companies. He has conducted systematic reviews (influenza and pneumococcal vaccine), observational studies on pandemic, non-adjuvated and adjuvated influenza vaccine effectiveness, hepatitis A, and a large population based study on pertussis incidence in adults. He also has participated as principal investigator in various phase II and III clinical trials (Meningo B, Herpes Simplex, Human papilloma virus, Hepatitis B and Zoster vaccines).
