Han pasado ya más de treinta años desde que un joven cineasta llamado George Lucas revolucionara Hollywood con el
primer episodio de esta saga espacial que ya forma parte de la historia del cine, convirtiéndose en un auténtico fenómeno de
masas . Pues bien, los seguidores de "La Guerra de las Galaxias" están de enhorabuena, ya que, hasta el 15 de marzo, el centro de
Arte Fundación Canal, ofrece una exposición en la que se muestran 250 piezas originales utilizadas en las seis películas (trajes,
vehículos, naves, figuras, armas, etc.). "Star wars, the exhibition" ha sido organizada en estrecha colaboración con la compañía
Lucasfilm y con el propio director.
Llaman notablemente la atención del público una figura a escala real de Darth Vader que parece que está a punto de decir :"Luke,
yo soy tu padre", y otra del maestro Yoda. La muestra ya ha sido visitada por más de un millón de personas en las otras capitales
donde se ha exhibido.
La exposición se completa con la proyección de un documental sobre los efectos especiales empleados en las películas,
una escuela Jedi y una tienda donde los coleccionistas podrán comprar todo tipo de piezas.
More than thirty years have passed since a young filmmaker called
George Lucas stormed Hollywood with the first episode of this space-age saga,
which was soon to become a firm part of cinema history, not to mention an
authentic pop culture phenomenon. Now, there is good news for fans of the
'War of the Galaxies', as until the15th of March, the Arte Fundación Canal
centre is hosting an exhibition of 250 original pieces used in the six films,
ranging from costumes,vehicles and spaceships to figures,weapons and much,
much more."Star wars,the exhibition" was organised in close collaboration
with the company Lucasfilm and the director himself.
Particular highlights are the life-size figures of DarthVader, poised as if
about to utter 'Luke, I am your father', and the Jedi master,Yoda.The
exhibition has already seen more than one million visitors in a range
of other host cities.

The display is rounded off with a documentary outlining the special effects used in the films,a Jedi school and a shop where collectors can buy an endless array of items.

Como todos los años, en la tarde del 5 de enero, la cabalgata de los Reyes magos recorrerá las calles de la capital en
un festival de luz y de color, previo a la dura noche de trabajo que luego espera a Sus Majestades.
Like every year, the afternoon of the 5th of January will witness
the bright and colourful Three Kings Cavalcade through the streets
of the capital, before the majesties embark on the hard night's work
awaiting them.
La comitiva saldrá de la plaza de San Juan de la Cruz, seguirá por el paseo de la Castellana, plaza del Doctor Marañón,
glorieta de Emilio Castelar, plaza de Colón, paseo de Recoletos y finalizará en Cibeles. En el pasacalles participarán 50
artistas y el tema, en esta ocasión con un planteamiento
barroco, serán las estaciones del año, ambientadas con la
música de Vivaldi. Las carrozas reales evocarán la naturaleza
a través de efectos luminosos. Los numerosos pajes irán vestidos en blanco y azul.
The procession will begin in Plaza San Juan de la Cruz, continuing
along Paseo de la Castellana, into Plaza del Doctor Marañón,
Glorieta de Emilio Castelar, Plaza de Colón and Paseo de Recoletos
before reaching its destination at Cibeles. Some 50 performers will
participate in this year's parade, the theme of which is the four seasons, accompanied by Vivaldi's baroque compositions.The royal floats will portray notions of nature using lighting effects.The many
pageboys accompanying the kings will be dressed in white and blue.
En la plaza de Cibeles, antes de la llegada de la comitiva real,
tendrá lugar un espectáculo llamado "Il tempo si rinnuova" a
cargo de la compañía Studio Festi e inspirado en Lorenzo de
Médici. El broche final lo pondrá un espectáculo pirotécnico.
Before the royal floats arrive, Plaza de Cibeles will host a performance called 'Il tempo si rinnuova' by the Studio Festi company,
inspired by Lorenzo de Médici.The icing on the cake is provided by
a fantastic fireworks display.

Los Magos de Oriente, leyenda y realidad

Esta pieza, la mejor de las reses, se llama también solomo por su posición debajo del lomo. Es una masa carnosa de gran calidad, ya que no tiene
apenas musculatura. Es una carne muy tierna y jugosa, que admite innumerables preparaciones
Aporta muchas proteínas y aminoácidos, no tienen glúcidos y su contenido
en grasas es pequeño. Contiene mucho calcio, hierro y vitaminas del grupo
B. Es fácil de digerir y suministra al organismo unas 200 calorías por cada
100 gramos.
La pena es que el ganado vacuno solo tiene dos solomillos, que pesan alrededor de dos kilos cada uno, es decir apenas el 1% del peso en canal de la
res, lo que hace que su precio se encarezca un poco.
En Botín hemos optado por su preparación con una deliciosa salsa de champiñones, aunque también se sirve a la plancha sin salsa para quien lo desee…
Sin duda estamos ante la aristocracia de las carnes.
This cut, the best bit of the animal, is also known as sirloin due to its position under the loin.This fleshy cut is of particularly high quality, given that it has
almost no muscle.The meat is extremely tender and juicy, making it the perfect protagonist for a number of dishes.
It is a valuable source of protein and amino acids, it is free from glycides and has a
minimum fat content. It contains high amounts of calcium, iron and B-group vitamins. In addition to being easy to digest, it provides the organism with some200
calories per 100 grams.
The only down side is that cattle only have two tenderloin fillets which weigh around
2 kilos each. In other words, this is less than 1% of the animal's overall weight,
which explains its cost on the slightly expensive side.
At Botín, we have decided to prepare this cut in a delicious mushroom sauce,
although it is also served straight from the grill without sauce for those who
wish…this is, without doubt, the indisputable king of meats.
A pesar de ciertas veleidades llegadas de los países anglosajones en forma de señor barbudo vestido de rojo (Papá Noel), en España siguen triunfando los Reyes Magos.
La noche del 5 de enero, la magia y la ilusión invaden los hogares españoles. El que más y el que menos, y no sólo los que son niños, saca su zapato más reluciente y lo deja preparado con la esperanza de encontrar en él, al día siguiente, algún obsequio… alguna señal de que, una vez más, los Magos de Oriente han visitado su casa durante la fría noche de
enero.
En realidad los Reyes Magos de Oriente son personajes procedentes de la cultura popular cristiana. Su figura tiene origen en los relatos sobre el nacimiento de Jesús, y más concretamente en el evangelio de San Mateo, en el que se menciona a unos magos, que no eran reyes ni eran tres, que siguieron una estrella buscando al Rey de los Judíos que había nacido en Belén y le obsequiaron con oro, incienso y mirra. No deja de parecer contradictorio que practicantes de magia fueran admitidos como adoradores de Jesús, pero es que el
término "magos" no se utilizaba solo para hechiceros sino también para referirse a hombres sabios. Poco a poco, la tradición ha ido añadiendo detalles y simbología como el hecho
de que representaran las tres razas conocidas en la antigüedad, las tres edades del hombre y los tres continentes (Asia, África y Europa).
En cualquier caso, se trata de una bella tradición que se encuentra muy arraigada en nuestro país y que, aunque algo desvirtuada por el consumismo, seguirá transmitiéndose
de padres a hijos… o eso esperamos los que todavía creemos en Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar.

Kings have paid them another visit during the cold January night.
In truth, the Three Oriental Kings are characters from popular Christian culture.Their roots can be found in stories about the birth of Jesus, and more specifically in the Gospel of Matthew, which refers
to a group of magi - who were neither kings nor a trio - who followed a star in search of the King of Jews who had been born in Bethlehem, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Although it
may seem rather contradictory that magicians where admitted as Jesus worshippers, the term 'magi' was not only used to refer to wizards, but also to wise men. Gradually, the tradition has been made more
colourful with the addition of details and symbols, such as the representation of the three races known in antiquity, the three ages and the three continents (Asia, Africa and Europe) represented by the
three men.
In any case, this is a charming custom which is deeply rooted in our country. Despite being somewhat distorted by consumerism, the tradition continues to be passed through the generations...or at least
those of us who believe in Melchior, Caspar and Balthasar hope so!º
