This exhibition tells the story of the Failure of Peace (1918 – 1939),
the outbreak of the Second World War, the Phoney War, the
Occupation, Genocide and the Battle of Normandy.

dedicated mainly to the D-Day landings and
Battle of Normandy area.
Few people realise the brutal price paid by Normandy for the
landings of 6 June 1944. While these culminated in the liberation of France and Europe, whole towns and cities were razed
by massive bombardments and battles as fierce as any fought
on the Eastern front. As evacuated civilians suffered, the German army fled with the allies in hot pursuit.

museum with the film “Normandy’s 100 days” at Arromanches 360
circular cinema. You can also book a talk about the artificial
harbour, built by the allies after the D-Day Landings (from the
terrace of the circular cinema overlooking the artificial harbour).
The latest special effects, combined with outstanding archive footage,
make this film absolutely unmissable. This film projected in HD on 9
screens tells the story of the terrible Battle of Normandy thanks to archive
images gathered from around the world. This film is a tribute to soldiers
from all countries and to the 20,000 civilians who were killed during this
battle for the liberation of Europe, battle which gave rise to so much hope.

NORMANDY LANDING BEACHES TOUR
A day to discover the Caen Mémorial and the major Landing
sites! The package includes the visit of the Mémorial, lunch at
the Restaurant “Les Pommiers” and a guided tour of the main
Landing sites: Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American
military cemetery at Colleville-sur-mer and the circular cinema Arromanches 360. A tour guide, trained by our historians,
will accompany your coach for a five-hour tour starting from
the Mémorial. The guide must be dropped off at the Mémorial
after the tour.
