Not only do they have to properly meet consumer’s needs (as always), but they have to do it with higher standards than competitors. In this context, it is especially relevant to know how tourists behave and make their decisions these days, both at the destination and their place of residence (where they decide on the type of tourism they will pursue or what destination they will visit). The aim of this special issue is to delve into the research lines that seek to model determinant and key variables that can shed some light on tourist behaviour, through empirical applications. Suitable research threads for this special issue include, but are not limited to, the following topics: 1. Analysis of tourist spending at the destination, globally or by looking at types of expenses (transportation, accommodation, shopping, recreation activities, etc.). 2. Analysis of tourist length of stay. 3. Analysis of the type of activities to do at the destination. 4. Effect of advertising on the decisions of potential tourists. 5. Branding and tourist behaviour 6. Purchasing tourism products: Internet and intermediaries. 7. The role of innovation in the tourist-organisation relationship 8. The effect of prices in today’s environment 9. Corporate social responsibility and the tourist 10.
