Aims
The involved researchers have not only the opportunity of working in interdisciplinary projects but
also benefit from different methodological approaches and experiences. Moreover, the students
that work longer than one year at the foreign
partner university are given a double PhD from
both universities.

The bi-national PhD program aims to establish
dual research projects in the broad field of Biology
with PhD thesis that are jointly supervised at the
University of Regensburg (Regensburg, Germany) and at the University Austral (Valdivia, Chile)
or the University Andrés Bello (Santiago, Chile).

Objetivos
Science and culture
El programa de doctorado binacional aspira a
establecer colaboraciones en proyectos de investigación dentro del vasto campo de la Biología a
través de tesis doctorales supervisadas conjuntamente por la Universidad de Regensburg (Regensburg, Alemania) y por la Universidad Austral
(Valdivia, Chile) o por la Universidad Andrés
Bello (Santiago, Chile).
One of the aims of the joined PhD thesis is to
combine science and culture. The partner universities already have offices that help the foreign
students to accomodate and integrate in the new
environment. To strenght this cultural exchange,
language courses in the visited country are free
and mandatory for the students enrolled in the
double PhD part of the program.
Los investigadores implicados no sólo tienen la
oportunidad de trabajar en proyectos interdisciplinares, sino que también se benefician del
contacto con diferentes metodologías y experiencias. Además, los estudiantes que absuelvan
al menos un año de su tesis en la universidad
socia extranjera recibirán la doble titulación de
doctor otorgada por las dos universidades en
cuestión.

Ayudas económicas
RegenVald financia la movilidad de doctorandos entre las tres facultades que constituyen
esta red a fin de que...
...sean evaluados como candidatos a realizar una
tesis conducente al título de doctor conjunto;
...realicen en el laboratorio extranjero las estancias
largas requeridas por el título de doctor conjunto;
...aprendan técnicas nuevas o establezcan colaboraciones mediante estancias cortas en el laboratorio de destino;
...asistan a cursos sobre metodologías especiales
o escuelas de verano.
Ciencia y cultura
Uno de los objetivos del título de doctor conjunto
es la combinación de ciencia y cultura. Aunque
las universidades del programa ya poseen oficinas
responsables de ayudar a los estudiantes extranjeros a acomodarse e integrarse, para reforzar el
intercambio cultural, los cursos de idiomas en el
país visitado son gratuitos y obligatorios para los
estudiantes del programa de doctorado conjunto.
