Medi-Cal Expansion to include All children
Why the change? Under Senate Bill 75, low income, California children, age 19 and under will be eligible
for full scope Medi-Cal regardless of immigration status no earlier than May 2016.
What are the key changes in Napa County?
1. Restricted Scope Medi-Cal children can be automatically enrolled in Full Scope Medi-Cal.
2. Kaiser Permanente Child Health Program (KP CHP) children in households with income between 0266% of the Federal Poverty Level may be eligible for full scope Medi-Cal, no sooner than May 2016.
If a child has KP CHP here are important reminders before enrolling KP CHP
members in Medi-Cal:







Continue to pay KCHP premium (if there is one) every month.
Respond to letters about Annual Eligibility Review/Renewal.
Send KP CHP new address or phone numbers.
Expect many letters regarding this change.
Medi-Cal provides a full set of health care benefits similar to KP CHP.
Children can keep Kaiser as their provider under Medi-Cal.
KP CHP children will have subsidy extended through September 30, 2016.
What you and our families need to know before and after May 2016:
 Get covered! If your a child is NOT already enrolled in Restricted Medi-Cal, CHI recommends that
families apply in order to start the process ahead of time.
 Stay covered! If a child is already enrolled in Restricted Medi-Cal make sure that coverage is not lost.
 Add a child! If there are other children in Medi-Cal, you don’t have to complete a new application.

¿Por qué el Cambio? Bajo el reglamento 75 del senado, hogares de ingresos bajos, los niños de California, que
sean menores de 19 años serán elegibles para Medi-Cal completo, sin importar la situación migratoria, a más
tardar en Mayo del 2016.
¿Cuáles son los cambios principales en el Condado de Napa?
1. Los niños bajo Medi-Cal Restringido serán automáticamente inscritos a Medi-Cal Completo.
2. Los niños bajo el programa Kaiser Permanente Child Health Program (KP CHP) donde el ingreso del hogar
que este entre 0-266% del nivel Federal de Pobreza serán elegibles para Medi-Cal completo, en Mayo del
2016.
Si un niño tiene KP CHP, aqui estan unos recordatorios importantes antes de
incribirlos a Medi-Cal:
 Continuar a pagar las primas mensuales de KP CHP (si tiene una).
 Contestar las cartas sobre la Revisión Anual de Elegibilidad.
 Informar cambios de su dirección o número de teléfono.
 Esperar varias cartas sobre el cambio.
 Medi-Cal ofrece cuidado de salud similar al de Kaiser Child Health Program.
 Los niños pueden quedarse con Kaiser como su proveedor o doctor primario.
 Los niños en KP CHP continuaran con el subsidio hasta el 30 de Septiembre del 2016.

