What a sweet joy it is to think that God is just, i.e., that he takes into account our weakness, that he is perfectly aware of our fragile nature. What should I fear then?” A PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY BY POPE FRANCIS Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees God. Show us your face and we will be saved. You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let us the Church be your visible face in the world. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen. DISASTER RELIEF TODAY As brothers and sisters of all in need, we have been asked by Bishop DiMarzio to assist the victims of recent natural disasters in Italy. Thank you for your support. MARK YOUR CALENDARS “A Parish Mission” will be conducted in our church by Fr. Victor Hoagland, a Passionist Priest, on Sunday thru Tuesday, October 16-18th. Mission theme: LIVING DAY BY DAY St. Teresa, patron of our parish, knew what living day by day meant. She lived that way herself. How do we do it? By following Jesus Christ each day, by taking the daily bread God gives us, by doing God’s will. There’s no other way to live except day by day. St. Teresa, wise woman you are, be with us during the days of our Mission! Make them days of blessing! OCTOBER VOCATION MONTH IN ST. TERESA’S During the Month of October, we join our Diocese in its effort to foster vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life. The Angelus is prayed before our daily masses here in St. Teresa’s for the whole month. If you cannot make it to Church for the week-day 8 am mass, we ask that you join us in prayer wherever you are. Much work is being done in and around the parish buildings. For years the front porch of the rectory has been deteriorating, so the railing and the columns are being replaced, and the wood-work facade of the rectory porch is being repainted. New and improved lighting is being installed in areas of the Church, the auditorium and the rectory. The black wrought iron fence of the rectory has been repainted, thanks to the young volunteers of the Youth Ministry. The refinishing of the church doors is nearly completed, thanks to the hard work of Mike Koerber. Masonry work was done on the outside church walls, and the biggest project—the new auditorium kitchen area - is advancing nicely, hopefully to be completed some time in November. We needed to put off the new school roof until the summer of 2017 because of a too late start this past summer. Some of the work will be paid for by your generosity in the “Generation of Faith” Campaign. We hope to raise the rest of the funds through a Thanksgiving raffle and from donations. We are petitioning the generosity of individual parishioners, families and parish societies to assist us. So…… a “Thanksgiving Raffle” of 15 packets of “Fandango Movie” vouchers, $50 value each, will be sold at $5 a chance or 3 chances for $10. The vouchers are redeemable at numerous movie theatres. Drawing will take place Thanksgiving Day, November 24th. And now about our new Auditorium Kitchen— “The Pantry Space” will be divided into three “stations”, or areas, a “Heating Station”, a “Washing Station”, and a “Preparation and Serving Station.” We are in the process of purchasing commercial appliances, and we are now accepting donations for them. The following are approximate costs: Refrigerator: $2,000 Freezer: $1,100 Heating Cabinet: $1,100 Microwave: $900 Coffee Urn Unit: $1,500 2 Hot Plates: $200 each 2 Storage Shelves: $150 each 4 Lockable Storage Cabinets: $250 each Convection Oven: $675 Dishwasher: $2,000 If any parishioner, or family, or parish society wishes to donate towards these items, please feel free to contact Msgr. Ferrari at the rectory 718-784-2123. Thanks again to all for your faithfulness to our wonderful parish and your commitment to its future.
