Our Lady of Sorrows
Jesus Christ Himself revealed to the Blessed
Veronica da Binasco, that He is, as it were, more
pleased in seeing His Mother compassionated than
Himself; for thus He addressed her: “My daughter,
tears shed for My Passion are dear to Me; but as I
loved My Mother Mary with an immense love, the meditation of the
torments which She endured at My death is even more agreeable to
Me.” Mary ask Her Son to grant some special grace to all those who
are devoted to Her sorrows. Jesus promised Her four principal ones:
1st, that those who before death invoked the divine Mother in the
name of Her sorrows should obtain true repentance of all their sins.
2nd, that he would protect all who have this devotion in their
tribulations,& that He would protect them especially at the hour of
death.
3rd, that He would impress upon their minds the remembrance of His
Passion, and that they should have their reward for it in heaven.
4th, that He would commit such devout clients to the hands of Mary,
with the power to dispose of them in whatever manner She might
please, and to obtain for them all graces that She might desire.

Choice
Abortion advocates do not want to
talk about facts or science, but they
love to talk about "choice". They refuse
to be called "pro-abortion", but they
gladly accept the
label, "pro-choice".
Indeed, nothing has so clouded and confused the
politics of the abortion debate more than the
misconstrued application of this word. For years, abortion
advocates have sought to bestow upon "choice" a nobility
of its own, thereby avoiding discussion of what is being
chosen.
The fact is that "choice" is nothing apart from the
context to which it is applied. Laws against rape, murder,
assault, theft, and drunk driving (to name a few) are all
"anti-choice". They remove choice in order to protect a
more fundamental freedom.
In the final analysis, we are only free to choose so
long as that choice does not harm another person. For
example, a person cannot choose to rape another person
because rape is a violent assault on another human
being. And so is abortion.
Can a priest celebrate Mass in a
layperson's house?
Yes, assuming there is some necessary, just reason for
doing so. For example, a priest on vacation outside his own
diocese may celebrate Mass in a friend's home if there is some
reason he is not able to celebrate Mass at a local church. In a
case like that, the great good of a priest celebrating Mass every
day would constitute just cause for the priest to celebrate his
daily Mass in a private home.
If I attend the vigil Mass on Saturday evening, is
it still necessary to attend Mass on Sunday?
No. The Saturday vigil Mass fulfills the obligation for
attending Mass on Sunday.

Fast and Abstinence during Lent:
All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence. Good
Friday requires fast and abstinence.
Abstinence refers to the eating of meat of warm
blooded animals (e.g. beef, lamb, chicken, pork). Under
the present law, it does not include egg or milk products, meat broth
or gravies.
St. Martha’s Guild
Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each
month, at 6:00 PM in the Gathering Hall.
Guild meeting has been RESCHEDULED to
Wednesday, February 24th at 6pm. This meeting will be a combined
February-March meeting.

QUINCEAÑERAS: Register at the Parish Office 6 months in
advance. A deposit is required at the time of registration.
Quinceañeras are held on Saturdays at 12Noon. The young woman
and her parents are required to meet with the Priest or Deacon one
month prior to the celebration.
FUNERAL MASS: Contact the Parish Office for a date and time if
not already arranged through the mortuary. You will then be
contacted by our Funeral Mass Coordinator to arrange music and
readings.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK/HOMEBOUND: To arrange
Communion to the sick or homebound or to receive the Sacrament of
the Anointing of the Sick for someone on Hospice, seriously ill, the
elderly or anyone scheduled for surgery call the Parish Office.

La Misa de Unción es para todos. Por favor

que Dios nos da para fortalecernos en

Nuestra Señora de las Penas
El mismo Jesucristo le reveló a la Bendita Veronica
da Binasco que a El le complace más ver más compasión por su Madre que hacia El mismo. El le dijo:
“Hija mía, yo aprecio las lágrimas derramadas por
mi Pasión; pero como yo siento un amor inmenso
por María, mi Madre, me complace más la meditación sobre los
tormentos que ella sufrió por mi muerte.” María le pide a su Hijo
conceder una gracia especial a aquellos devotos a sus penas. Jesús
le prometió cuatro gracias principales:
1ro, que los que antes de su muerte invoquen a la Divina Madre en
su pena, obtendrán verdadero arrepentimiento por sus pecados.
2do, que El protegerá a los que tienen esa devoción de sus tribulaciones y los protegerá especialmente a la hora de su muerte.
3ro, que El grabará en sus mentes el recuerdo de su Pasión y que
por ella recibirán su recompensa en el paraíso.
4to, que El encomendará esos devotos en las manos de María, para
disponer de ellos en cualquier forma que Ella desee, y con el poder
de obtener todas las gracias que ella puede desear para ellos.

LIBRE ELECCIÓN
Los promotores del aborto no quieren hablar
de hechos o ciencia, ellos prefieren hablar de
“LIBRE ELECCIÓN”. A ellos no les gusta ser
llamados “pro-aborto”, pero muy afablemente
aceptan ser llamados “pro-libre elección”.
Sin lugar a dudas, nada es más nebuloso y confuso en el debate
sobre la política del aborto que la errada interpretación de esta palabra. Durante años, los defensores del aborto han tratado de otorgar a
la palabra "elección" una nobleza intrínseca, evitando así la discusión acerca de lo que en realidad se está eligiendo.
Es un hecho que está “libre elección” está totalmente fuera del contexto al que se está aplicando. Las leyes en contra de la violación, el
asesinato, el robo, el fraude, el robo y el manejar ebrio, (por nombrar
unos pocos), son todos “ANTI-LIBRE ELECCIÓN”. Todos ellos quitan la libre elección con el fin de proteger la más fundamental libertad.
En el análisis final, nosotros somos libres de elegir en tanto esa elección no lastime a otra persona. Por ejemplo, una persona no puede
elegir violar a otra, porque violar es un asalto violento hacía otro ser
humano, y lo mismo es el aborto.
¿Puede un sacerdote celebrar Misa
en casa de un laico?
Sí puede, asumiendo que hay una razón
justa y necesaria para hacerlo. Por ejemplo,
un sacerdote en vacaciones fuera de su
diócesis puede celebrar Misa en casa de un
amigo si hay alguna razón por la cual no
puede celebrar Misa en una iglesia local.
En un caso así, el interés común de tener un sacerdote
celebrar Misa todos los días constituye causa
justificada para que el sacerdote celebre su Misa diaria
en un hogar privado.

Recogida de alimentos no perecederos durante la Cuaresma
Ayuno y abstinencia durante la Cuaresma:
Todos los viernes de Cuaresma son días de abstinencia. el Viernes Santo requiere ayuno y abstinencia.
Abstinencia se refiere al comer la carne de animales
de sangre caliente (e.g. carne de res, cordero, pollo, cerdo). Conforme a la ley presente, eso no incluye productos lácteos o huevos,
consomé o salsas de carne.
Gremio St. Martha
Las reuniones son el segundo miércoles de cada
mes en el salón social de la iglesia, a las 6:00pm.
La reunión del gremio del 10 de febrero se ha cambiado para el miércoles 24 de febrero a las 6pm. La reunión combinará las reuniones de febrero y marzo.
En el sitio web del gremio hay listas para firmar para ayudar
durante el servicio de Biblia de los martes y con la sopa y el pan.
