Dear Parents of Y3L Students,
As you are already aware, all Y3L students will take IGCSE (International General Certificate of
Secondary Education) University of Cambridge examinations at the end of 2015.
This November all students will be taking language examinations in English and Spanish, and
those who study French will also have an examination in this subject. Mathematics
examinations will be held in November, 2015 and in May, 2016.
The students who have been following the Portuguese course took the examination in May. This
situation occurs because Cambridge does not offer a Portuguese examination in the November
session.
The entry exam fee of US$ 74 per subject will be billed in US Dollars and sent to you shortly.
The due date is 10th September 2015.
The money collected for these exams will be sent directly to the Cambridge International
Examinations office. The School is acting only as a link between Cambridge and the students.
The British Schools considers that the IGCSE provides students with an excellent preparation for
the IB courses, as well as for other examinations. In addition, it provides a useful benchmark for
the School with which to compare its results with those of similar schools in South America and
the rest of the world.
The results will be issued in mid-January and each student will be provided with a personalized
password to access an online results website.

Estimados Padres de Alumnos de Y3L:
Como es de vuestro conocimiento, todos los alumnos de Y3L rendirán exámenes de IGCSE
(International General Certificate of Secondary Education) de la Universidad de Cambridge, a
fines del 2015.
En noviembre todos los alumnos rendirán exámenes de lenguas: Inglés y Español, y quienes
cursen Francés rendirán también dicho examen. Los exámenes de Matemática se llevarán a
cabo en noviembre de 2015 y en mayo de 2016.
Aquellos alumnos que cursaron Portugués ya rindieron este examen en mayo. Esto sucede
porque Cambridge no ofrece periodo de exámenes de Portugués en noviembre.
El costo de inscripción de U$S 74 por asignatura se facturará en dólares americanos y será
enviado en los próximos días. La fecha límite de pago es 10 de setiembre de 2015.
El dinero recaudado por la cobranza de estos exámenes se enviará directamente a la oficina de
‘Cambridge International Examinations’. El Colegio sólo opera en calidad de nexo entre
Cambridge y los alumnos.
The British Schools considera que el IGCSE brinda una excelente preparación a los alumnos,
tanto para los cursos de IB como para otros exámenes. Asimismo, le brinda al Colegio un punto
de referencia a partir del cual puede comparar sus resultados con los de similares colegios de
América del Sur y del resto del mundo.
