The AILCFH and The University of Houston are pleased to invite you to the 26th Annual Conference of the AILCFH, to take place
November 10-12, 2016 at the Hotel Zaza in Houston, Texas.
Crossing Boundaries/Cruzando Fronteras seeks interdisciplinary proposals focusing on the ways in which the borders of gender
and sexuality are being crossed with class, race, ethnicity, popular culture and disability, among others, and their representations
in all forms of cultural productions of the Hispanic world.
In addition, this conference will recognize the 400th anniversary of Cervantes’ death with the inclusion of sessions focused on
gender in the era of Cervantes with a
Keynote address by Prof. Anne Cruz of the University of Miami.
We invite the submission of both individual and panel proposals in the following areas:
Artistic Boundaries
Gender Boundaries
National Boundaries
Genre Boundaries
Spatial Boundaries
Sexual Boundaries
Temporal Boundaries
And gender in the age of Cervantes
:
-Proposals may be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese, the three official languages of the AILCFH.
-All proposals are due May 16, 2016 at [email protected]
-All proposals should include presenter’s name, title, and abstract of no more than one page, along with a brief description of
professional qualifications (1 paragraph).
The registration is $115 US ($60 for students); all participants in the conference must be members of the AILCFH

After proposals for the conference have been accepted, the Organizing Committee will forward a list of lodging options at hotels
with conference pricing. A limited number of scholarships will be available for graduate students.

En un encuentro de carácter interdisciplinar, Crossing Boundaries/Cruzando Fronteras se enfocará en el estudio de los
modos en que se cruzan la fronteras establecidas del género y la sexualidad con respecto a cuestiones de clase, raza,
etnicidad, cultura popular, lenguaje, etc. y cómo estos cruces se manifiestan en las producciones culturales del mundo hispano.
El congreso también contará con sesiones especiales en torno al 400 aniversario de la muerte de Cervantes desde el enfoque
de los estudios de género y la época de Cervantes con una
Conferencia Plenaria de la Profesora Anne Cruz de la Universidad de Miami
Se invita a enviar propuestas individuales y de paneles, relacionadas con los siguientes temas:
Fronteras artísticas
Fronteras espaciales
Fonteras de género
Fronteras nacionales
Fronteras temporales
Fronteras sexuales
Fronteras lingüísticas
Y género en la época de Cervantes
Se pueden dirigir preguntas a [email protected]. Las ponencias se pueden presentar en inglés, español y portugués—los
tres idiomas oficiales de la AILCFH. Las propuestas de una página deberán enviarse a [email protected] antes del 16 de
mayo de 2016, acompañadas de un breve curriculum vitae (1 párrafo) de su autor/a. Las ponencias no excederán 20 minutos.
La cuota de inscripción será 115 USD ($60 para estudiantes); todos los participantes tienen que ser miembros de la AILCFH
