MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT/PRESIDENT
MENSAJE DE BIENVENIDA DEL SUPERINTENDENTE/PRESIDENTE
Welcome to the Spring Semester 2012!
According to the old proverb, “A good year is determined by its
spring.” If this is true, then enrolling in spring semester classes at
Citrus College is a great way to guarantee a productive spring
season! Whether you are a first-time student, returning to the college
or continuing your studies, our faculty and staff are eager to help you
achieve your educational goals.
Of course, we understand that every student has a different
aspiration. Some may enroll with the hope of earning a

ing in the workplace. Whatever your intention, Citrus College has
outstanding programs, services and activities that will provide valuable information and equip
you with the tools needed to ensure a positive academic experience.
For example, the college has introduced a new Associate Degree in Transfer option in five
subject areas. Mandated by the Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act (SB 1440), these
degrees make it possible for any California community college student to attain junior standing
admission to the California State University system. In addition, Citrus College received a
historic $8 million in federal and private grants last fall. These funds, allocated over the next five
years, will assist students who are interested in entering the teaching or STEM (science,
technology, engineering, or math) professions.
As the cold of winter recedes and the beauty of spring emerges, we are reminded that this is a
season of new beginnings. What better time to renew your commitment to yourself and to your
future? We commend you for deciding to pursue a college education and encourage you to take
advantage of the many opportunities that are available. Once again, welcome to Citrus College.

¡Bienvenidos al Semestre de Primavera 2012!
Según el proverbio “La cosecha de un año depende de un buen comienzo en primavera” ¡Si
esto es verdad, entonces el inscribirse en las clases de primavera es una gran manera de garantizar una temporada productiva durante el invierno! Ya sea que sea un estudiante nuevo, o que regresa al colegio o continúa con sus estudios, nuestra facultad y empleados están aquí para
ayudarle a alcanzar sus metas educativas.
Sabemos que cada estudiante tiene una aspiración diferente. Algunos se inscriben con la esperanza de aprender una carrera técnica o recibir un certificado o título de asociado, mientras
que otros están interesados en aprender una nueva habilidad o de poder ascender en sus empleos. Cualquiera que sea su intención, Citrus College cuenta con programas, servicios y actividades extraordinarios que le ofrecen información invaluable para equiparlo con las herramientas
necesarias para asegurarse que tenga una experiencia académica positiva.
Por ejemplo, el colegio ha introducido un Título de Asociado para transferirse con cinco opciones de carreras. Por mandato del Acta de Rendimiento para la Transferencia Estudiantial (SB
1440), estos títulos hacen posible que cualquier estudiante de un colegio comunitario de California pueda estar a nivel de estudiante de segundo año de estudio ‘junior’ para poder ser admitido
al sistema de Universidad Estatal de California. Adicionalmente, Citrus College recibió fondos
históricos federales y privados por $8 millones el pasado otoño. Estos fondos, que serán distribuidos entre los próximos cinco años, asistirán a los estudiantes interesados en carreras para
dar clases o para incursionar a las profesiones denominadas STEM (ciencias, tecnología, ingeniería o matemáticas).
Al terminarse el frío del invierno y empezar la belleza de la primavera, se nos recuerda que
esta temporada es de nuevos comienzos. ¿Hay un mejor tiempo para renovar el compromiso
hacia usted mismo y hacia su futuro? Lo felicitamos por buscar una educación en el colegio y esperamos que tome ventaja de las muchas oportunidades que están disponibles. Una vez más, bienvenido a Citrus College. ¡Que su semestre de primavera sea uno de crecimiento e inspiración!
