Dear Parent/s,
This week students are starting Step It Up again. Your child will be bringing home a
pedometer that they will wear morning to night for four days. At the end of the day, we need
you to help them record the number of steps they took that day that is shown on their pedometer.
Please encourage them to wear it, participate, and give them support with completing and turning
in their pedometer log/pedometer next week starting Monday, April 7. We want to continue to
provide a free club for your child/children by continuing this nutrition/fitness program that the
department of education is able to fund us through.
Next week, April 7-11, there will be a unique experience for club members at Spotswood
called Derby Days! Derby Days is an annual event that is put together by JMU
fraternities/sororities at Boys & Girls Club in Harrisonburg. Each day next week, 20 JMU
volunteers will be leading a variety of special activities. We are hoping to hold these activities
outside if the weather is nice, but will be able to do them in the gym if the weather does not
cooperate. Members will participate and be a part of these activities each day from 3:35-5:30.
Because of this unique experience for your child, we will not be doing any other programming
during the week except for Power Hour, from 5:30-6:00. We understand how important it is for
children to complete their homework and read each night, so if children are not able to finish
their studies at Boys & Girls Club we ask that they are allowed time and help to finish it at home.
We think all members deserve to be a part of this special week!
On Friday April 11, the last day of Derby Days, the Greek fraternities are having a
cookout at the Simms Boys & Girls Club for club members from 4:00-6:00. We are planning on
taking our Spotswood club members on a trip to Simms that afternoon to be a part of this
experience. We will be providing transportation, and are finalizing the times this week that our
buses will leave from Spotswood to Simms, (in between 4:00 and 4:30). We are asking that you
pick up your child from Simms by 6:00 (620 Simms Ave). Simms is very close to Spotswood,
within a mile, but if you cannot pick up your child from there than you need to arrange for them
to be picked up before 4:00 at Spotswood or not send them to Boys & Girls Club that day.
Last, we are beginning to plan for the Boys & Girls Club summer program. The program
will start after the school year ends on Monday, June 9. We will be open from 7:30AM-6:00 PM
weekday. There will be a weekly fee of $35.00 for each member. We like to provide a
cheap/free club during the year, but it is important that we use this $35.00 fee a week per
member to keep club open. We are a non-profit organization, so we are not looking to charge
anything that is unnecessary. We just want to be able to stay open so we can help your child
grow into a productive, caring, and responsible citizen.

Esta semana los estudiantes están empezando Step It Up de nuevo. Su hijo va a traer a casa un
podómetro que pueden desgastar la mañana a la noche durante cuatro días. Al final del día,
necesitamos que ayudes a registrar el número de pasos que tomaron ese día que se muestra en su
podómetro. Por favor anime a usarlo , participar y darles apoyo con terminar y entregar en su
podómetro log / podómetro próxima semana a partir del lunes 7 de abril. Queremos seguir ofreciendo
un club libre para su niño / niños por continuar este programa de nutrición / ejercicios que el
departamento de la educación es capaz de financiar a través de nosotros .
La próxima semana, 7-11 de abril habrá una experiencia única para los miembros del club en Spotswood

El viernes 11 de abril, el último día del Derby Days , las fraternidades griegas están teniendo una comida
al aire libre en los Simms Boys & Girls Club de Socios del Club de 04:00-06:00 . Estamos pensando en
llevar a nuestros Socios del Club Spotswood en un viaje a Simms esa tarde para ser parte de esta
experiencia. Vamos a proporcionar el transporte, y estamos ultimando los tiempos de esta semana que
los autobuses saldrán de Spotswood a Simms, ( en 4:00-04:30 ) . Estamos pidiendo que usted recoja a su
niño de Simms a las 6:00 (620 Simms Ave) . Simms está muy cerca de Spotswood, dentro de una milla ,
pero si no puede recoger a su hijo a partir de ahí que es necesario organizar para ellos para ser
recogidos antes de las 4:00 en Spotswood o no los envían a los Boys & Girls Club de ese día.
Por último, estamos empezando a planear para el programa de verano del Club de Niños y Niñas . El
programa se iniciará después de que el año escolar termina el lunes 9 de junio. Estaremos abiertos de
7:30 AM- 6 : 00 pm de lunes a viernes . Habrá una cuota semanal de $ 35.00 por cada miembro. Nos
gusta ofrecer un club barato / gratis durante el año , pero es importante que usemos esta cuota de $
35.00 por semana por cada miembro para mantener el club abierto. Somos una organización sin fines de
lucro , por lo que no estamos buscando para cargar todo lo que es innecesario. Sólo queremos ser
capaces de permanecer abierta para que podamos ayudar a su niño a crecer en una productiva , el
cuidado y ciudadano responsable.
