Course objectives: The classes will provide students with significative contexts to put in
practice, both orally and written, the contents learned in previous courses. The approach in class
will mainly be communicative with a bit of reading and listening comprehension.
The school organizes two conversation activities with Spanish students:
- Wednesdays in a local pub where a school teacher prepares communicative activities so
our foreign students can practice their Spanish and our Spanish students can do the same
with English. This is what we call a language exchange.
- On Thursdays the conversation class will be done with the Spanish students that study
English in our school. It takes place in school.
The aim of these activities is to give students the opportunity to practice with native speakers
what they have learned. Students will have to prepare questions (related to the topics done in
class) at home to make to the Spanish students.
During the course we will cover the contrast between pretérito imperfecto & indefinido,
presente de subjuntivo to express wishes, probability, future and to give opinión. We will also
work pretérito imperfecto de subjuntivo along with condicional. Coloquial expressions will also
be part of the course.
Attendance: It is consider to be a priviledge. Teachers will explain students the policy of
attendance because if they miss lessons, it will affect their final marks.
Teachers control attendance daily.
- 3 absences diminish the final mark in 10%, 4 or more, 20%.
- Tardies: Students are expected to be punctual. If a student gets to class within the 10 first
minutes, it will be considered a tardy. 2 tardies = 1 absence
Participation: Students are expected to participate actively, to take part in all the different
activities and dynamics proposed by the teacher and to interact with classmates.
Oral presentation: Students will prepare an oral presentation in which they will have to use all
the topics learned in class. The presentation will be between 3-5 min long. The student won’t be
allow to read their outline.
Final exam:
The exam could be a conversation with an examiner, to describe a photo and talk about the topic
related to it, etc. Students will have to use all what they have learned in class. The teacher will
explain in advance what students need to prepare
