The RARA item of the month is canned veggies.
Ladies Triad Luncheon: Thursday, December 3 at the Sheridan Livery, Lexington at 11:30 a.m. This is a
get-together for all women of St. Patrick's. New faces are always welcome!!! RSVP by Dec. 2 at 464-5774
(Aggie) or 291-1686 (Cindy). Also we will be passing an envelope to collect for the lonely stars left on the
Star Tree - any donation is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Star Tree Alert: Each year at Christmas, the parishioners of St. Patrick reach out to elderly people
living alone, to people with disabilities and to children from low income families. We do this by
selecting a star from the Star Tree and by buying a gift for the person named and described on the
star. This year, the Star Tree will be in place on November 28. We are asking you to write the
star # and your phone # on a clipboard located nearby in the Narthex. You will have two weeks
to select the present, wrap it with the star (number side up) on the outside, and return it to the Star Tree. In
order to allow time for sorting and presenting the gifts to the agencies, they MUST be returned by December
14. We ARE Christmas for many of the people whose stars are on the Tree. You don’t want to miss out on
an opportunity like this.
March for Life: Saint Patrick’s will be sponsoring a bus for those who wish to attend the 2016
March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday January 22, 2016. The bus will depart from St.
Patrick’s at approximately 7:30 a.m. and return at approximately 9:30 p.m. Details to follow
as plans develop. There will be a stop for dinner on the return trip. Cost is $35.00 per person. A sign-up
sheet will be in the narthex soon. Please prayerfully consider joining other parishioners as well as thousands
from across America in this annual faith strengthening and powerful pilgrimage.
Eucharistic Adoration: An invitation has been extended to the whole parish to come and spend
some time with Jesus each week. Eucharistic Adoration has been proposed for the parish on
Wednesday of each week, extending from after the 7:30 a.m. Mass until Lectio Divina at 4:30 p.m.
Adoration will begin when enough people have signed up to insure that Jesus exposed in the
Monstrance is never left alone during the time of Adoration. A minimum of two people is needed
for each hour that the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., that is 16
people total, 2 people per hour. Anyone who wishes to adore but cannot commit to an hour a week
is certainly welcome to come for as little or as long as you want, but it is imperative that we always
have two committed people who will be with Jesus every hour that He is exposed.
Please pray over this to see if Jesus is inviting you to be His regular guest every week. To sign up, contact
Maggie Davies at 540-819-6426 or [email protected].
Homebound Ministry: Please contact the parish office if you are aware of a parishioner who is unable to
attend Mass due to injury, chronic illness or hospitalization and would like to receive communion. Also, the
Prayer Shawl ministry has shawls and lap pads for those who are sick. Please notify the parish office to
request one.

Congratulations to parishioner Mike Walsh who is retiring after 26 years of distinguished service to
Washington and Lee University. We wish you the best in retirement.
2015 Annual Diocesan Appeal - Our Faith Alive in Love: Over the past month, many of our
parishioners have contributed their support to the 2015 Annual Diocesan Appeal. To date, we have raised
$17,183 on a target of $13,200. If you have already made your 2015 Appeal gift, please accept our gratitude
for your commitment. The seventeen ministries supported by the Appeal work together to ensure that we are
assisting our parishes, supporting our clergy and growing our faith communities. If you have not had the
opportunity to contribute, please pick up a pledge envelope from the narthex. You can also donate securely
online, and learn more about the 17 ministries the Appeal supports, at www.richmonddiocese.org/appeal.
The Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites are lay people inspired by the Holy Spirit to answer the call to
holiness through prayer, study, and apostolic works of charity. Their formation is founded on the writing and
teachings of the Carmelite Saints: St. Teresa of Jesus, St. John of the Cross, and St. Therese of Lisieux, under
the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Lady of Mount Carmel. If you desire to learn more about this
way of life, the Secular Community of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity meets at St. Francis of Assisi in Staunton
on the second Sunday of each month from 12:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. For further information, please pick up a
brochure in the narthex or call Laurie Strong at 463-9879.
