Lunch Money
Students may purchase a school lunch or pack their lunch. Please send a check with
your child for meals beginning the first day of school. Lunch accounts can be accessed
and paid on line by going to the Pike website: www.pike.k12.in.us and click on the
MyLunchMoney icon.
These fees are separate from book rental fees. Breakfast and lunch prices for the 2016-17
school year are as follows:

Applications for Free and Reduced price lunches are available in the office and online. A
new application must be completed at the beginning of each year.
Visitors
In order to ensure our schools are as safe and secure as possible, all Pike Township
schools use Lobby Guard. In accordance with Pike School Board Policy, visitors are asked
to present their driver’s license and sign in at the school office, where they will receive a
visitor badge to wear before proceeding to the classroom areas. Anyone wishing to
observe a classroom while school is in session is expected to arrange such a visit in
advance with the teacher and the principal. Teachers should not be expected to take
instruction time to discuss individual matters with visitors.
We recommend that every parent complete a BACKGROUND CHECK and watch the
Anti-Bullying Video every year so you are free to work with our students anytime
throughout the school year. Please stop in the office with your driver’s license to
complete the background check and watch the video. This is for parents helping with
PTO events, field trips, class projects and special class events that allow you to interact
with children other than your own. Thanks…it’s great to complete this as soon as
possible!
Loving Care
Before and after school care is available in each of the Pike Township schools.
Please call the Loving Care Office at 388-7836 to register.
Bus Information
Bus information will be mailed to you from the Transportation Department before
school starts. It will include your child’s bus number, pick-up/drop-off locations and times.
Please have your child out at least 10 minutes before your scheduled bus time the first
week. If your child is to ride the bus to a location other than your home address, we will
need that information, in writing, 2 weeks before school starts. Transportation will only
provide a bus to locations in the Guion Creek Elementary boundaries. We can NOT take
bus change requests over the phone.
Car Riders
Student safety is our first priority. We ask all drivers to follow the safety procedures
listed on our “Car Rider Procedures” information sheet.
Earliest morning drop off begins at 8:00 AM on the driveway. Please wait for an
adult to come outside to release the students each morning. They will accept students
from 8:00 – 8:15 at the main entrance. Parents may pull up in the “drop off lane”. Please
do NOT park in the drop off lane and leave your car unattended. If your child arrives
after 8:15 he/she may enter the building through the main doors and will be marked
tardy. Thanks for your assistance with this safety issue.
If you want your child to be picked up after school, please complete a Car Rider
Request form (available in the office). Afternoon pick up time is 3:00 PM. Only those
individuals listed on the Car Rider Request form and the Student Information Card are
permitted to pick your child(ren) up from school.
Medication
If your child is required to take medication during the school day, please observe the
following procedures:
 All prescription medication must be accompanied by written instructions from a
physician.
 Parents must bring and pick up all medication. Students may not bring
medication to school.

Birthdays and Celebrations
Classroom teachers recognize birthdays and celebrate special events/activities.
Food items/treats for the entire class are not permitted. In addition, parents are asked to
refrain from sending balloons, flowers, etc. These items are not permitted on the bus and
disrupt the learning environment. Thanks for your assistance in celebrating outside of the
regular school day. All students are recognized at Guion on their special day.

Las solicitudes para almuerzos gratuitos o a precio reducido están disponibles en
la oficina. Se debe de completar una solicitud al comienzo de cada año escolar.
Procedimiento para Visitantes
Con el fin de garantizar la máxima seguridad posible en nuestras escuelas, todas las
escuelas del distrito Pike usan el sistema de seguridad Lobby Guard. En conformidad
con la Política del Consejo Escolar de Pike, a todo visitante se le solicitará presentar su
licencia de conducir/ID y firmar en la oficina de la escuela; luego se les emitirá un
gafete/insignia de visitante para usarlo antes de proceder a las áreas de las aulas. Todo
aquel de desea observar una clase mientras la escuela está en sesión, debe hacer
arreglos de antemano con el maestro/a e informar al director/a. No se debe esperar
que el maestro ocupe el tiempo de clases para hablar asuntos individuales del visitante.
Loving Care (Cuidado de niños)
Hay cuidado de niños para antes y después de la escuela disponible en cada
escuela del Municipio de Pike. Para registrarse por favor llame a la oficina de Loving
Care al 388-7836.
Información del autobús
La información del autobús se enviará por correo directamente del Departamento
de Transporte unos días antes de comenzar la escuela. Incluirá el número de autobús de
su hijo/a, horarios de recoger y dejar y la ubicación de la parada. Por favor, tenga a su
hijo en la parada 10 minutos antes del horario programado durante la primer semana
de clases. Si su hijo/a debe viajar en autobús a un lugar diferente de su casa,
necesitaremos esa información, por escrito, 2 semanas antes de comenzar la escuela.
Transporte solo proveerá un autobús en lugares que estén en los límites de la Escuela
Primaria Guion Creek.
Niños que viajan en carro
Nuestra mayor preocupación y prioridad es la seguridad de los estudiantes. Le
pedimos a todos los conductores que sigan los procedimientos de seguridad enlistados
en la hoja informativa “Procedimientos para los que viajan en carro”.
El horario más temprano para dejar a los niños en la escuela comienza a las 8:00
AM en la vereda de la escuela. Por favor espere que un adulto venga y permita que el
estudiante baje del carro cada mañana. Ellos estarán en la entrada principal de 8:00 –
8:15. Los padres deben acercar el carro en la “línea para dejar” (“drop off lane”). Por
favor NO estacione en esa línea y se aleje dejando el carro sin atender. Si su hijo/a llega
después de las 8:15 él/ella debe entrar a través de las puertas de la oficina y marcar
llegada tarde. Si usted desea escoltar a su hijo a través del edificio, por favor estacione
en el estacionamiento (no en la zona de dejar a los niños). Gracias por su ayuda con
este asunto de seguridad. Si usted desea recoger a su hijo/a después de la escuela, por
favor complete el formulario “Solicitud para viajar en carro” (Car Rider Request) que
está disponible en la oficina. El horario para recoger en la tarde es 3:00 PM. Solo a los
estudiantes enlistados en la solicitud para viajar en carro y la tarjeta de información
estudiantil tendrán permiso para ser recogidos de la escuela.
Medicación
Si su hijo necesita tomar medicinas durante el día escolar, por favor observe los
siguientes procedimientos:
 Toda medicina con prescripción se debe de acompañar con instrucciones por
escrito de parte del médico.
 Los padres deben traer y recoger toda medicina. Los estudiantes no pueden
traer medicinas a la escuela.
Por favor lea el manual del estudiante para obtener más información sobre la
medicina para los estudiantes. Usted puede llamar a la enfermera, la Sra. Terry Canal al
216-5111.
