The first part shows key data through six infographics, while the second part contains factsheets on each of UEFA’s 54 national associations. UEFA would like to thank all associations for the data, the details they have provided and for their collaboration. 2 Women’s football in Europe Overview Registered players 1,199,584 Countries with more than 60,000 Qualified referees 8,754 Qualified female coaches 13,353 FEMALE PLAYERS 49 50 35 countries in Europe have a women’s domestic league associations have a national team countries have disability football programmes 11% of participants are women 2,063 women are employed by national associations, representing 29% of the workforce 3 Women’s football in Europe Domestic football Professional players Youth football 15 Average distance from house to pitch 2,219 is the average age when mixed football ends WU13 WU15 female professionals in 145 clubs in 23 countries WU17 409 age categories with the most organised youth leagues in Europe 27 11 Countries 9 Countries 32 Countries less than 45 6-15km Number of countries where girls play football in school (18.43%) foreign 1,658 home grown 152 (6.85%) unknown (74.72%) Association support to women’s clubs and teams Financial 5km Total Countries Equipment 38 Countries Training and education 45 Countries Training ground 16 Countries Other 12 Countries more than 15km 4 4 Women’s football in Europe What do national team players receive from their associations? DL M No. NT P&R UWCL Average Domestic League Million Number National Team Promotion and Relegation UEFA Women’s Champions League Additional notes: The entry entitled “Top level where women referee matches” refers to matches outside women’s football. Budgets presented in currencies other than Euros may have altered slightly as a result of changes to exchange rates. UEFA coefficients/rankings and FIFA rankings were calculated on 23rd September 2015 and 5th October 2015 respectively. Domestic club teams from Liechtenstein, Andorra and San Marino are playing in leagues organised by bordering countries (Switzerland, Spain and Italy respectively). They do not have a domestic league in their own country. The entry entitled “No. of dedicated staff for women’s football” covers only staff dedicated entirely to women’s football. The large increase in the total number of Hungarian youth players is due to a youth programme that the association did not take into account last year. The number of professional players refers to people playing in the domestic league and not players from that country playing abroad. The average attendance for national team matches refers to women’s A national teams. The number of registered female players over 18 years old in Azerbaijan is 0 because registration was not yet finished at the time the booklet was printed. The total number of registered female players in Germany refers only to players registered on digital match sheets (approximately 80% of all Grassroots matches). The total number of registered female players in Slovakia in 2014-15 was incorrect as large numbers of non-active players (since 1993) were included. For this reason “-” is marked around the growth since 2014-15. The dash “-” between two youth teams (for instance U14-U17) means that they have all the categories between (in this case U14, U15, U16 and U17). 11 Albania Registered players 2015/16 National teams & national team coaches Total No. of registered female players 360 Senior national team?
