Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to Flora Singer Elementary School. Kindergarten is going to be full of fun and learning! We are so excited to
begin the new 2016-2017 school year with all of you! We are looking forward to seeing you and your child at the Flora
Singer Elementary Open House on Friday, August 26th. In this letter you will find important information about both
Open House and what Kindergarten will be like during the first week of school. Please wait to send school supplies and
donations until the 2nd week of school.
This year we will be implementing a new procedure that will begin the first week of school, which is August 29 th –
September 2nd. Your child will be assigned to a temporary homeroom class for this week. Students will be identified in a
group with an animal (purple cat, yellow duck, green frog, etc.). Your child will meet his/her group and temporary
homeroom teacher every morning in the gym and be dismissed by this teacher each afternoon. During the first week of
school, your child’s temporary homeroom teacher will also serve as your primary contact for any questions that you may
have. During the first week, your child will participate in different rotations to meet each Kindergarten teacher.
This new procedure is an evaluative process that allows teachers to get to know all Kindergarten students and ensure they
are placed in a classroom with peers and a teacher that will best meet each child’s individual academic, behavioral, and
social/emotional needs. All kindergarten students will participate in the same activities each day and throughout the week
regardless of the teacher they are with. By the end of the week, all students will have had the opportunity to meet each
teacher and spend time together.
When you arrive at Flora Singer at Open House, you will check in at the Kindergarten table and get a folder that has a
Kindercard, a Scavenger Hunt, and some forms to fill out that need to be returned to school on the first day. You will also
find out at Open House which group your child will be in for the first week of school.

Below you will find a schedule for the first week of school. This gives you an example of a typical routine for the first
week. This will help you visualize your child’s day. Please use this schedule to get your child excited about each day and
remind them they will meet different teachers each day!

On Friday, August 30th, you will receive a letter indicating who your child’s permanent classroom teacher will
be for the remainder of the year. This letter will come home in your child’s Flora Singer folder at the end of the
day. On Tuesday, September 2nd, your child will report to the Gym where they should line up with their new
Kindergarten teacher. The teachers will be in the Gym to help with this process.
We are so excited to be able to use the first week of school to get to know each of our incoming students. We
are confident that this will allow us to create classes that maximize each student’s success in Kindergarten. We

Bienvenidos a Flora Singer Elementary School. El ano de kinder sera uno de divertimiento e aprendizaje!
Estamos tan contentas de comenzar el 2016-2017 ano escolar junto a ustedes! Los esperaremos a usted y su hijo/a en el
Open House el la escuela el Viernes, 16 de Agosto. En esta carta encontrara informacion importante sobre el Open House
y como sera kinder durante la primera semana de la escuela. Por favor espere a mandar materiales escolares y donaciones
hasta la segunda semana del ano escolar.
Este ano vamos a comenzar con un nuevo proceso para la primera semana del ano escolar, el 29 de Agosto hasta el 2 de
Septiembre. Su hijo/a tendra una clase temporal para esta semana. Los ninos seran idenficados por grupos que tienen el
nombre de un animal (gato morado, pato amarillo, rana verde). Su hijo/a se encontrara con este grupo y maestra temporal
todas las manas en el gimnasio. Tambien seran despedidos por esta maestra cada tarde. Durante la primera semana de la
escuela, la maestra temporal sera la persona a quien le puede hacer cualquier pregunta. Durante esa semana, su hijo/a
haran actividas con cada maestra en turna para conocerlas a todas.
Este proceso nuevo es para que las maestras puedan evaluar y conocer a todos los estudiantes de kinder para asegurar que
quadaran en una clase con una maestra y otros ninos quienes seran los mejor para cada nino. Todos los ninos de kinder
participaran en las mismas actividades cada dia y durante la semana Al final de la semana, todos los estudiantes van a
pasar tiempo con cada maestra..
Cuando llegue a Flora Singer para el Open House, vaya a la mesa de kinder y coja una carpeta que tiene un Kindercard,
una busqueda de tosoro, y unas formas que necesita llenar y retornar el primer dia de escuela. En Open House, tambien
podra saber en cual grupo estara su hijo/a para la primera semana.

Coja la carpeta de su hijo/a. Esto contiene la busqueda de tesprp, Kindercard, y
formas.
Averigue en cual grupo de nombre de animal esta su hijo/a.
Conozca a TODAS las maestras de kinder durante la busqueda de tesoro.
Avisenos como va llegar su hijo/a a casa de la escuela.
Conozca la escuela y a otros estudiantes y maestros.
Aqui hay un horario para la primera semana de la escuela. Le da un ejemplo de una rutina tipica para la primera semana.
Asi se podra imaginar como va pasar el dia su hijo/a. Por favor use este horario cada dia para recordales que van a
conocer a maestras nuevas cada dia!

El Viernes, 30 de Agosto, recibira una carta indicando quien sera la maestra permanente de su hijo/a por el
resto del ano. Esta carta llegara en el Singer Folder al final del dia. El Martes, 2 de Septiembre, su hijo/a
llegara al gimnasio a encontrarse con su nueva maestra de Kinder. Las maestras estaran en el gimnasio para
ayudar con este proceso.
Estamos tan contentas de poder usar esa primera semana para concocer a cada nuevo alumno. Tenemos
confianza que este proceso no ayudara a crear clases que ayuda a la mayoria de los estudiantes para salir
adelante. Los veremos en Agosto!
