(one pdf file ­ less than 5MB ­ called : “name_Acall16_april”) BEFORE, MAY 1st 2016 EN // CAN SERRAT is located in El Bruc, at the foot of Montserrat and only 45 km from Barcelona. This center was founded in 1989 by a group of 11 Norwegian artists. It has several spaces / workshops and a beautiful natural environment. With a pleasant path from the house we soon get to the bottom of one of the most spectacular areas around the massif of Montserrat, “Les Agülles “ ­ Community of artists from all over the world ­ integrating a Catalan village of 2000 inhabitants, and indeed their daily lives ­ The farmhouse: an old manor of 1187m², on the ground floor where we find the hall, a kitchen, dining area, bathrooms an old cellar of 260m², which has been conditioned as work space. On the first floor are 10 rooms for single use and double, three studies 36, 24 and 25 square meters. Outside, an area of 9200 m². THROUGH THIS OPEN CALL, ONE full granted artist is invited for a two­months residency at Can Serrat, including accommodation, workshop spaces, local food supplies [the grant does not include travel costs ] Can Serrat, is a rustic house close to an old and mysterious mountain ­ there is no topic to answer, although jury expects proposals who take in consideration the place and environment ­ as well as it is expected from the artist a position regarding contemporary creation . TO THE DISPOSITION OF SELECTED ARTISTS : studios access access to all studios, including printmaking (after a short initiation) and sound recording (with assistance of Daniel, regarding your knowledges) individual monitoring on the project every thursday and friday from 2 to 5 team is available to exchange about the project + email communication before during and after residency. visit​
to emergent art places in Barcelona and around (one time per month) human resources regarding the project Team is available to help you connect with specific person or group that can be necessary for your project invitation to one local artist/curator/critic/writer/poet to present his work to the artists of Can Serrat (one or two times per month) open studios​
(every 2 months) Visual artists and writers in residency are invited to open their workspace to show to public projects they are working one, the way they want to arrange it. Open studios are thought as a casual and leaving moment of sharing a project that can still process, in a different way, may be, of an exhibition of finished works. This moment is also an opportunity for artist and writer to take distance with their project regarding how to present it and how it is received by visitors. if you are not at Can Serrat while we organize it, please let us or send us something so we can present it. WHAT THE RESIDENCY EXPECT FROM THE ARTIST : a regular and serious work​
during the residency time participation to MEETING POINT a collective but private presentation during the first week of the month (if there at this moment) ­ 10/15 minutes presentation of few past projects and actual for Can Serrat. participation to CRITIC SESSION one time in the month ­ presentation of the work in progress at Can Serrat to other artist in residency + team + 2 or 3 guest (professional and nonprofessional of art) before leaving Can Serrat​
giving + a digital document summarizing the project realized + biography + a piece of work Result will be out in June 2016 If selected you might chose a time frame between June 2016 and June 2017 there are no age restrictions or nationality to participate For this call jury will be composed with the regular member of Can Serrat: Sophie Blais (Director) Daniel Moreno Roldán (artistic coordinator) Sara Malinarich (artist/curator invited for a 3 months residency at Can Serrat) ​

Este centro fue fundado el año 1989 por un grupo de 11 artistas noruegos. Dispone de varios espacios/ talleres y de un entorno natural impresionante. Con un agradable paseo desde la casa no tardamos en llegar a la parte inferior de una de las zonas más espectaculares de todo el macizo de Montserrat, la zona de Les Agülles ­ Comunidad de artistas de todas partes del mundo ­ integrándose a un pueblo catalán de 2000 habitantes, y de hecho a su vida cotidiana ­ La MASIA : una antigua casa solariega de 1187m², en la planta inferior donde encontramos el vestíbulo, una cocina, el comedor, zona de baños una antigua bodega de 260m², que se ha acondicionado como espacio de trabajo polivalente. En la planta primera se encuentran 10 habitaciones de uso individual y dobles, tres estudios polivalentes de 36, 24 y 25 m². En el exterior cuenta con una superficie de 9200 m². A TRAVÉS DE ESTA CONVOCATORIA, CAN SERRAT selecciona 1 artista por una residencia de dos meses, incluyendo alojamiento, espacios de trabajo, suministros de comida, seguimiento en el proyecto [la subvención no incluye los gastos de viaje] LUEGO se ofrece a un nombre limitado de artistas becas de 50% y 30% (cf. "conditions"). Can Serrat, es una casa rústica cerca de una montaña antigua y misteriosa ­ no hay un tema a la convocatoria, sin embargo el jurado valora las propuestas que toman en cuenta el lugar y su alrededor ­ igual que se espera un posicionamiento acerca de la creación contemporánea ­ A LA DISPOSICIÓN DE LOS ARTISTAS SELECCIONADOS acceso a todos los estudios incluyendo el grabado (después de un corto iniciación) y grabación de sonido (con iniciación) seguimiento individual del proyecto todos los jueves y viernes de las 14 a las 17, el equipo está disponible para intercambiar sobre el proyecto + Comunicación por correo electrónico antes, durante y después de la residencia. visita a los lugares emergentes de arte​
de Barcelona y alrededores (una vez al mes) recursos humanos en relación con el proyecto Equipo está disponible para ayudarte a conectar con la persona o el grupo específico que puede ser necesario para tu proyecto invitación a un artista / curador / crítico / escritor / poeta local para presentar su trabajo a los artistas de Can Serrat (una o dos veces por mes) talleres abiertos (cada 2 meses) Los artistas visuales y escritores en la residencia están invitados a abrir su espacio de trabajo para mostrar sus proyectos al público, arreglando como le parece mejor un espacio. El taller abierto se piensa como un momento relajado para compartir un proyecto que todavía puede procesar. Este momento es también una oportunidad para el artista/escritor de tomar distancia con su proyecto en cuanto a la forma de presentar y cómo es recibido por los visitantes. si no estás en Can Serrat, mientras que lo organizamos, por favor deja o envia algo para que podamos presentarlo. LO QUE LA RESIDENCIA ESPERAR DE LA ARTISTA: un trabajo regular​
