Bogotá, - Avianca Holdings and Empresa Energía de Bogotá (EEB) received IR (Investor
Relations) Recognition, which the Colombian Securities Exchange awards to companies listed
on the market that are committed to one of the most advanced and developed information
disclosure and Investor Relations models in Latin America.
Together with Avianca, EEB and the main companies listed on the BVC that have also
decided to renew their commitment round out a list of 29 issuers who have voluntarily
adopted a series of good practices regarding investor relations. According to the Exchange,
this will place the local market in an even better position for international investment.
In response, BVC's CEO, Juan Pablo Córdoba, stated that, "Achievement of IR Recognition
by two important issuers, Empresa de Energía de Bogotá and Avianca Holdings, is big news
for our capital market and consequently, for the country as a whole. The creation of a
transparent and attractive market, with companies which are more open to their
stakeholders, marks a substantial contribution to Colombia's prosperity and growth."
The executive also noted that the requirements that issuers must meet in order to receive
IR Recognition include disclosure of consolidated financial statements, creation of investor
service offices and the holding of quarterly events to disclose results, as well as the
publication of information on their respective websites in both English and Spanish.
The BVC explained that the equity market issuers receiving the first IR recognition last year
have since formed part of the COLIR index. This index measures the performance of these
stocks and allows companies, which must renew their commitment annually, greater market
exposure and presence.
The Exchange said that the indicator of companies with the best investor service policies
increased by 14.3% in 2014, making it the stock index with the largest increase on the
Colombian market as of August.
Lastly, in regards to the incorporation of the Avianca (PFAVH) and Empresa de Energía de
Bogotá (EEB) stocks into this index, the BVC explained that said incorporation will begin on
November 1st, 2014, following a rebalancing which is scheduled for October 31st.
