Attention: Parents/Guardians of Students Attending Bryan Adams High School Next Year
We are excited that Bryan Adams High School is becoming an Innovation School under a Leadership
model beginning in the 2015-2016 school year! This new approach to further support and accelerate
student learning will be implemented school-wide, with some aspects affecting incoming ninth graders
only.
An Innovation School is a type of Dallas ISD Choice School. As an Innovation School, Bryan Adams will
remain a neighborhood school, keeping its traditional neighborhood attendance boundaries and
continuing to serve students living within those boundaries.
The Leadership model will be integrated into the traditional academic core content through inquirydriven activities known as performance tasks. These activities will regularly be designed to ensure that
all students are supported in developing and applying the six essential leadership skills that will come to
define the Bryan Adams Leadership model. These skills will be known as the BASIX: 1) Communicate
Effectively and Persuasively; 2) Manage Projects Effectively; 3) Think Critically; 4) Solve Problems
Resourcefully; 5) Express Themselves Creatively; and 6) Collaborate Productively.
As one of Dallas ISD’s first Choice Schools, Bryan Adams will continue to remain committed to ensuring
that ALL of our students, no matter where they may be in their social or academic development, will be
supported to succeed on a daily basis leading up to graduation and beyond. With college and career
readiness at the center, students will also participate in a culminating Senior Portfolio Defense where
they will communicate and elaborate on their growth as leaders by showcasing their accomplishments
to a committee made up of teachers, school leaders, and community members that have mentored
them leading up to graduation.
Ultimately, the staff at Bryan Adams believes that all of our students can become the front-runners and
change makers of tomorrow. We look forward to embarking upon this exciting journey together with

¡Estamos muy contentos que comenzando el ciclo escolar 2015-2016, Bryan Adams High School, será una
“Innovation School” con un modelo de aprendizaje personalizado! El nuevo aprendizaje personalizado se
implementará a nivel escolar, con algunos aspectos que afectarán solamente a los estudiantes de nuevo
ingreso al noveno grado.
Una “Innovation School” es un tipo de escuela de opción del Dallas ISD. Como plantel de esta índole, Bryan
Adams permanecerá como escuela del vecindario, con su zona de asistencia tradicional y continuará
aceptando estudiantes que viven dentro de esa zona de asistencia escolar.
El nuevo modelo de liderazgo se integrará al contenido básico académico tradicional a través de actividades
orientadas a la investigación conocidas como tareas de desempeño. Estas actividades serán diseñadas
regularmente para asegurar que todos los estudiantes reciban apoyo en el desarrollo y aplicación de las seis
habilidades esenciales de liderazgo que definirán el modelo de liderazgo de Bryan Adams. Estas habilidades
serán conocidas como BASIX: 1) Comunicarse eficaz y convincentemente; 2) Manejar proyectos con
eficacia; 3) Pensar de una manera crítica; 4) Resolver problemas con iniciativa; 5) Expresarse de forma

Como una de las primeras escuelas de opción del Dallas ISD, Bryan Adams continuará manteniendo su
compromiso de asegurar que TODOS los estudiantes, sin importar en qué etapa se encuentren en su
desarrollo social o académico, sean apoyados para tener éxito diariamente dirigiéndolos a que se gradúen y
continúen hacia adelante. Con un centro de preparación para la universidad y para una carrera en el plantel,
los estudiantes también participarán en un culminante “Senior Portfolio Defense”, donde los estudiantes
comunicarán y elaborarán su desarrollo como líderes al presentar sus logros a un comité integrado por
maestros, líderes escolares, y miembros de la comunidad que han sido sus mentores y los han guiado hasta
su graduación.
