This happened during a workshop in a course on ‘design for education and knowledge sharing’ at the Italian university. Twenty students were asked to develop ‘new gestures’ for the common sharpener. The result of the workshop includes designs as rings, a planing tool and a sandpaper bra. ‘We were interested in having the students analyse and reinterpret the use and shapes of a basic, simple tool with the aim of showing them how even the small changes of an iconic product can generate new enriched experience,’ the teachers told. El resultado del workshop incluye diseños como anillos, herramientas de cepillado y un sujetador-lija. ‘Estábamos interesados en que los estudiantes analizaran y reinterpretaran el uso y las formas de una herramienta básica y simple con la intención de enseñarles cómo incluso los pequeños cambios de un producto icónico pueden generar una experiencia enriquecedora’, cuentan los profesores.
