Dear graduates, families and friends,
Queridos alumnas y alumnos. Queridos familiares y amigos:
Congratulations to all our graduates, whose success we are
celebrating today as we award them their IE master´s Degree.
You all richly deserve your Diploma after a year of huge effort and
achievement.
Enhorabuena a todos nuestros graduandos por el éxito que hoy celebramos y del que
ellos son protagonistas: la entrega de los títulos Master de IE en la solemne ceremonia
de graduación. La obtención de vuestro diploma es merecida y ha supuesto un intenso
esfuerzo y capacidad de superación. Durante el pasado curso académico, habéis
adquirido conocimientos relevantes y potenciado habilidades personales que serán
decisivas en vuestro ejercicio profesional futuro.
Over the last academic year you have acquired relevant knowledge
and strengthened personal skills that will be decisive in your future
careers, and you have made lifelong friends. Moreover, during your
time at IE you have left your mark on professors and staff at our
school, with your spirit of work and commitment and your ambition
to improve the society in which you live.
Congratulations also to the families and friends of our graduates,
both those who are here with us and those who were unable to join
us. You too have played an important part in the success we are
celebrating today. You have our heartfelt thanks for all the support
and enthusiasm shown this year.
The staff at IE is especially proud of you all today. On behalf of all
the professors, directors and administrative staff of our school, I
would like to thank you for making this year such a good one, and
offer my very best wishes for the future.

Habéis conocido también a nuevos amigos, que confiamos os acompañen durante
el resto de vuestra vida. Vuestro paso por IE ha dejado una huella importante en
los profesores y personal de nuestra escuela. Vuestro espíritu de trabajo, vuestro
compromiso por hacer las cosas bien, vuestra aspiración por mejorar la sociedad
en la que vivís.
Enhorabuena también a los familiares y amigos, presentes y ausentes, de nuestros
graduandos. Ellos y ellas son merecedores de una gran parte del éxito que hoy
celebramos. Os agradecemos mucho vuestro apoyo y vuestro ánimo durante este
año y confiamos en que seáis beneficiarios de este esfuerzo en el futuro.
La comunidad de IE se siente orgullosa de los actos celebrados hoy. En nombre de
todos los profesores, directivos y personal administrativo de nuestra institución, quisiera
agradecer la presencia a todos los asistentes y manifestar mis mejores deseos de

Miriam González Durántez
is a Partner at Dechert, an
international law firm in London,
where she heads the firm’s EU
Trade and EU Government Affairs
practice. She is married to Nick
Clegg, the British Deputy Prime
Minister,and they have three
children.
Miriam grew up in Olmedo, Spain,
where she studied law at the University of
Valladolid and then won a postgraduate
scholarship to the College of Europe in
Bruges, Belgium. Prior to join Dechert, she
was a partner at DLA Piper, where she worked
for six years. In her career, Miriam has been
a trade negotiator at the WTO and worked in
Brussels as a senior member of the cabinet
for EU External Relations Commissioners
Chris Patten and Benita Ferrero-Waldner,
where her main responsibility was advising
on EU relations with the US, the Middle East,
Mediterranean countries and Latin America.
She was also a senior policy adviser to the
UK presidency of the EU whilst at the UK
Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
She is also a Non Excutive Director of Acciona
and Vice-President of Canning House.
Miriam González Durántez es socia de la firma jurídica internacionalDechert, donde dirige la práctica de
Comercio Internacional y Relaciones
Institucionales con la Unión Europea. Está casada con Nick Clegg,
Viceprimer Ministro británico, con
quien tiene tres hijos. Miriam nació
en Olmedo y es licenciada en Derecho por la Universidad de Valladolid
y Máster por el Colegio de Europa de Brujas,
Bélgica. Previamente a unirse a Dechert, trabajó durante seis años en la oficina de Londres
de DLA Piper.
Su carrera comenzó, sin embargo, en Bruselas en los Gabinetes de los Comisarios de
Relaciones Externas de la UE, Chris Patten y
Benita Ferrero-Waldner, donde su principal responsabilidad era asesorar en las relaciones de
la Unión Europea con Estados Unidos, Oriente
