HOW THE FULL TME KINDERGARTEN LOTTERIES WORK
Because full-time kindergarten classes are funded mainly from parent-paid tuition, it is necessary to
hold separate lotteries based on whether the student’s tuition will be covered by the parent or by a
district waiver of tuition. The lotteries are outlined below:
Class size for kindergarten is 23 students. A minimum of 18 students funded by parent-paid tuition,
or a combination of paid tuition and tuition waivers, are needed to fund each full time program.
Lottery #1 is for students who are funded by parent-paid tuition
Lottery #2 is for students who have applied for a waiver of tuition*
Parents may enter one of the two lotteries, but not both
Lottery #1— Paid Applications (parents agree to pay full tuition in 2014-15 school year)
Up to 18 paid applications may be chosen from this lottery
Paid applications over 18 will be placed on a wait list by lottery order
If under 18 paid applications were entered into Lottery #1, paid applications received after the
lottery deadline may be added to the class on a first-come, first-serve basis
If a class has fewer than 18 students at the time district waiver funding is released, open spots
up to 18 may be filled by waiver students
Lottery #2—Tuition Waiver Applications
All waiver applications are placed on a wait list by order drawn in Lottery #2
Applications received after the lottery deadline are placed on the wait list by date received
If the class has fewer than 18 paid applications, remaining spots may be made available to
tuition waiver students after district funding for waivers is released
Waiver funding is typically released in early spring
Principal Discretionary Placements
After the full time class reaches 18 students, each principal has up to 5 discretionary placements
The purpose of the discretionary placements is to give students who may benefit from full time
kindergarten an opportunity to enter the program regardless of their date of registration or
placement on the lottery wait list
These placements may also be used for students who have been retained to kindergarten from
the current school year
Discretionary spots may be held open through the summer

CÓMO FUNCIONAN LOS SORTEOS PARA EL JARDÍN DE NIÑOS DE TIEMPO COMPLETO
Debido a que las clases de tiempo completo del jardín de niños son financiadas principalmente por
colegiaturas pagada por los padres, es necesario llevar a cabo sorteos separados, basados en si la
colegiatura del estudiante será cubierta por los padres o por una exención (waiver) de colegiatura. Los sorteos
están delineados abajo.
El tamaño de la clase para el Jardín de Niños es de 23 estudiantes. Para financiar el programa de
tiempo completo, se requiere de un mínimo de 18 estudiantes con colegiatura financiada por los padres,
o una combinación de pago de colegiatura y exenciones de colegiatura.
El Sorteo # 1 es para los estudiantes que su colegiatura es financiada por los padres.
El Sorteo # 2 es para los estudiantes que han aplicado por una exención (waiver) de colegiatura*
Los padres podrán entrar a uno solo de estos sorteos, pero no a ambos.
Sorteo #1—Solicitudes para Jardín de Niños de Paga (Los padres acuerdan pagar por completo la
colegiatura del año escolar 2014-2015)
Se seleccionarán hasta 18 solicitudes para Jardín de Niños de paga en este sorteo.
Después de pasar las 18 solicitudes de paga recibidas, el resto de las solicitudes serán colocadas en
una lista de espera por orden de como fueron sorteadas.
Si se ingresan menos de 18 solicitudes de paga en el sorteo #1, las solicitudes de paga que se reciban
después de la fecha límite del sorteo, podrán ser agregadas a la clase en el orden en que se vayan
recibiendo.
Si una clase tiene menos de 18 estudiantes al momento en que los fondos para exenciones del Distrito
sean emitidos, los espacios disponibles, hasta 18, podrán ser llenados por los estudiantes de dichas
exenciones
(waivers).
Sorteo #2 — Solicitudes para Jardín de Niños a través de Exenciones de Colegiatura o Paga
Todas las solicitudes al Jardín de Niños a través de exenciones serán colocadas en una lista de espera
en el orden que resulten en el sorteo #2
Las solicitudes recibidas después de la fecha límite del sorteo, serán colocadas en la lista de espera por
fecha de recibo.
Si la clase tiene menos de 18 solicitudes de Paga, los espacios disponibles podrán estar disponibles para
los estudiantes con exenciones de colegiatura después de que los fondos para las exenciones sean
liberados.
