Beach cleaning activities carried out in Data de Playas (Guayaquil, Guayas, April 8).- The beach cleaning campaign “Mingas por el Mar” was carried out on April 9 in Data de Playas along with “Mi Playa Limpia” (Clean Beach) project. Institutions such as the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment supported the campaign. More than 2,500 kg of trash were collected from beaches along the year. This initiative aims at raising awareness in our society to take care of the country’s beaches, encouraging children and adults to carry out cleaning and recycling activities. The main objective of “Mingas por el Mar” is teaching the community about the importance of having clean beaches and raising citizens’ awareness about marine ecosystem care, which is daily affected by waste thrown at the ocean. The event took place at 10:00 in Data-Playas, Jambeli Avenue.
