HISTORICAL NOTE
Las Sociedad Mutua de Obreros Aquiles Serdan was established in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico
in 1912 with the purpose of tending to the needs and problems of the mine workers. Only
workers who worked for the company could join and the Sociedad was run by its members
and funded by members’ dues.
Aquiles Serdan was a known figure of the Mexican Revolution.
