Artistic Dossier Jesús Pineda Arjona Currículum Vitae Soloist and chamber music repertoire Photos BIOGRAPHY Jesús Pineda began his musical education at the conservatories of Jerez, San Fernando, Cadiz and Seville, where he ended them with the highest qualifications and obtaining the award “Honours Degree” under the tutelage of the professor Serafín Arriaza. He has participated as an active student in graduate courses with Alberto Ponce, David Russell, José Luis Rodrigo, José María Gallardo, Joaquin Clerch and Roland Dyens furthermore receiving advice from musicians belonging to other disciplines and various conductors. Likewise, supplementing his training with studies of plucked strings of the Renaissance and Baroque, so he expands its musical and instrumental knowledge of these periods specializing in instrumental performance of Renaissance Lute and Theorbo. Sometimes he has used the instruments mentioned in some of his concerts to give them a greater interest and variety of styles and sonorities. Mr Pineda has received the following merits: Honourable Mention for the Intermediate Grade, 1996. 2nd Prize in the I National Competition "América Martínez", 1997 2nd Prize in the IV International Competition Ciudad de Linares "Andres Segovia", 1997 1st Prize in the II National Competition “América Martínez”, 1998 The Prize “Honours Degree” for the upper grade, 1998 Finalist in the "Young Andalusian Artists Competition”, Cordoba 1999 2nd Prize in the VI International Competition "Andres Segovia", 2000 2nd Prize in the International Competition “Comarca del Condado”, Jaén 2002 2nd Prize in the I International Competition “Villa de l'Ollería” Valencia 2002 1st Prize in the I “Valencia Guitar Competition” 2002 He has given recitals throughout the Spanish geography as well as Italy, Portugal and Austria, getting very good reviews. In 1993 he made his debut as soloist with "Manuel de Falla" Orchestra. Later, in 1997, he performed with “Ciudad de Cadiz” Orchestra. In 1999, he played the "Concierto de Aranjuez" in front of the Cordoba Symphony Orchestra and conductor Juan Luis Pérez. He has composed several works for guitar and is also the author of numerous transcriptions for this instrument and for guitar duo, especially he is very skilled at adapting Spanish music since getting all the technical and expressive possibilities of the instrument. Pineda has also participated in various chamber groups with public and critical success. Regarding his research work, he has published several articles devoted to the instrument, primarily in relation to their learning and teaching in Spanish Conservatories, moreover other articles of historicist theme. He is also Phd student at the University of Seville, through which he obtained in 2010 the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) with the highest rating. He was invited to participate as a judge in the IV National Guitar Competition in Seville in 2000 as well as the II International Guitar Festival in Ayacucho (Peru). In 2010 he gave masterclasses at the Third Meeting of guitars "América Martínez" in Sevilla and he assisted at the Conservatorio "G. B. Pergolesi "of Fermo (Italy) as performer and teacher. Recently, he has given masterclasses at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität (Austria), in addition to playing a concert of Spanish music for guitar. At present he combines his concerts with his activities of teacher and researcher. He is currently occupying a place of professor at the Conservatorio Superior "Manuel Castillo” of Seville.
