REQUIREMENTS TO GET MARRIED IN VENEZUELA
(FOR ICELANDIC CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS IN ICELAND)
IN ORDER TO GET MARRIED IN VENEZUELA, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE
FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION:

VALID PASSPORT

CERTIFIED COPIES OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM BOTH FUTURE SPOUSES,
WHICH MUST BE DATED SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING DAY, CERTIFIED BY
THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF ICELAND AND LEGALIZED BY THIS
EMBASSY.

LEGAL PROOF OF SINGLE STATUS CERTIFIED BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN
AFFAIRS OF ICELAND AND LEGALIZED BY THIS EMBASSY.

IN CASE OF SECOND OR LATER MARRIAGE, CERTIFIED COPY OF DEATH
CERTIFICATE OF DECEASED SPOUSE, OR CERTIFIED COPY OF THE DOCUMENT
THAT DECLARED NULL OR DISSOLVED THE FORMER MARRIAGE CERTIFIED BY
THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF ICELAND AND LEGALIZED BY THIS
EMBASSY.
GENERAL INFORMATION:

CIVIL CEREMONY MUST BE HELD PRIOR TO RELIGIOUS CEREMONY.

ANY PERSON WISHING TO GET MARRIED AND WHO HAS MINOR CHILDREN UNDER
THEIR PATRIA POTESTAD (CUSTODY), MUST PREVIOUSLY APPLY THE
NOMINATION OF CURATOR AD-HOC.

IF ANY OF THE FUTURE SPOUSES DO NOT KNOW THE SPANISH LANGUAGE, AN
INTERPRETER, WHO MUST ALSO SIGN THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, WILL ASSIST
THEM.
NOTE:
Please, do not make any deposit until we check your documents and
indicate the corresponding consular fee and the account number.
When sending documents by mail, please arrange their pick up with a courier company
or include a prepaid return envelope in order to guarantee their safe return.

REQUISITOS PARA CONTRAER MATRIMONIO EN VENEZUELA
(PARA CIUDADANOS ISLANDESES Y RESIDENTES EN ISLANDIA)

Pasaporte vigente.

Copias certificadas de las partidas de nacimiento de los futuros contrayentes,
las cuales no deberán datar de más de seis meses antes de la celebración
del matrimonio, deben estar certificadas por el Ministerio de Relaciones
Exteriores de Islandia y legalizadas por esta Embajada.

Justificativo de soltería certificadas por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores
de Islandia y legalizadas por esta Embajada.

En caso de segundo o ulterior matrimonio, copia certificada de la sentencia
de divorcio, o copia certificada del acta de defunción del cónyuge fallecido,
certificadas por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Islandia y
legalizadas por esta Embajada.
Información General:

Deberá celebrarse el matrimonio civil previamente al matrimonio religioso.

Cualquier persona que vaya a casarse y tenga hijos menores bajo su
potestad, deberá tramitar previamente el nombramiento de un curador Ad hoc.

Si alguno de los contrayentes no conociera el idioma español, será asistido
en el acto por un intérprete que él mismo llevará, el cual suscribirá el acta.
NOTA:
Por favor no realizar depósito bancario alguno hasta tanto sea chequeada
la documentación e indicada la tarifa consular correspondiente.
En caso de enviar documentos por correo, por favor realice arreglos con una compañía
de courier para su retiro o incluya un sobre de correo registrado pre-pagado a fin de
garantizar su seguro retorno.
