He went down with them and came to Nazareth,
and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all
these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in
wisdom and age and favor before God and man.

A Family Effort
December 26/27
Our Christmas Celebration was beautiful and I thank everyone
who came together as a family to make it all possible.
To Pam Culver and her husband, Bill, who decorated our church and this year built a
wholly new crèche. To Bill and Jose in our maintenance department who made
everything so perfect.
To Jim Frankenbach who once again lit our beautiful trees and made our church so
welcoming with their light.
To all of you who gave so generously to our Christmas Flower collection.
To our music ministry under the direction of Jo Ann Morse. And to all who sang with
them!
A special thanks to all who responded to the invitation to be holiday Ushers and
Greeters!
To our Lectors, Eucharistic ministers, Altar Servers, Ushers, Cantors, Singers, Presiders,
and Deacons — you brought such great joy to all God’s people!

Become an Anchor of Mercy
During this Holy Year of Mercy we will be offering Eucharistic
Adoration on Thursday from the conclusion of the noon mass
until Benediction at 4:00 PM. We will also have confessions
during this time and our Spanish community will pray the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We are
very much in need of parishioners to be in church all during
that afternoon time to ensure that someone is always praying
before the Blessed Sacrament and to welcome others to prayer.
I am calling these parishioners Anchors of Mercy and I am
inviting you to become one of them. To do so you will agree to
be in church on those Thursdays for at least 1/2 hour and at
least one Thursday a month. You can of course agree to be
present for longer if you wish. But we need to be sure that our
church is never empty on these Thursday afternoons. You can use this page to sign up or send an
email to [email protected]

Reflections On the Gospel from Pax Christi
December 27, 2015
Sunday’s readings celebrate family, the Holy Family in particular, but all families as well. These
readings provide us with a great lesson in what it is to be a family. They use words like honor, revere,
obey, care for, be considerate, forgive, thank, and most of all LOVE. They acknowledge that it’s not
always easy to be family, to watch a parent age or lose sight of a wandering child. But they also
assure us that there is great reward when we strive to live the lesson. Are we prepared to be this kind
of family to our brothers and sisters not only across the dinner table, but also across borders and
ideologies and classes? When we say the Lord’s Prayer, do we really mean it? “Our Father…” Let’s
give it a try.
