El Departamento de
Emergencias atiende las
24 horas del día, en el
teléfono 598-4000
a. Si siente que necesita atención por un problema post-operatorio,
llame al jefe de residentes en servicio.
b. Si ha recibido solamente anestesia local, podrá retornar a sus
actividades normales, excepto las específicamente mencionadas
por su médico, tan pronto como la cirugía haya sido finalizada.
Sin embargo, se recomienda una dieta ligera.
c. Si ha recibido un anestésico general o de bloqueo, por favor
observe lo siguiente durante las próximas 24 horas:
1. Tome una dieta líquida durante seis horas después de la
cirugía, luego proceda con su dieta normal, a no ser que le
indiquen lo contrario.
2. Tome solamente la medicación prescrita por su médico.
3. No haga lo siguiente:
+ no tome bebidas alcohólicas.
+ no viaje en autobús, tren o avión sin un acompañante.
+ no conduzca un vehículo a motor ni opere maquinaria.
+ no firme documentos importantes.
+ no tome a su cargo plenamente a ninguna otra persona.
+ no se quede solo/a en su casa.
d. Si tuviera alguna pregunta sobre su procedimiento quirúrgico o la
recuperación después de su cirugía, póngase en contacto con el
cirujano que le atendió o el jefe de residentes en servicio.
e. Si tuviera alguna pregunta sobre su anestésico, póngase en contacto
con el anestesiólogo que le atendió o el residente de anestesia de
turno.

f. Si tuviera alguna pregunta respecto a la atención de enfermería,
póngase en contacto con el personal de recuperación del centro
quirúrgico. Una enfermera de recuperación se pondrá en contacto
con usted al día siguiente de la cirugía para hacer el seguimiento
de su progreso.

POST-OPERATIVE INFORMATION
The Emergency Department is open
24 hours daily, at telephone 598-4000.
a. if you feel that you need attention for a
post-operative problem, call the chief
resident on the service.
b. if you received only local anesthesia, you
may return to your normal activities,
except those specifically mentioned by
your physician, as soon as surgery has
been completed. However, a light diet is
recommended.
c. if you received a general or block
anesthetic, please observe the following
for the next 24 hours:
1. Eat a liquid diet for six hours after
surgery, then proceed to your normal
diet unless otherwise directed.
d. if you have any questions about your
surgical procedure or the recovery after
your surgery, contact the attending
surgeon or the chief resident on that
service.
e. if you have any questions about your
anesthetic, contact the attending
anesthesiologist or the anesthesia
resident on call.
f. if you have any question regarding
nursing care, contact the Surgery Center
Recovery Staff. A nurse from Recovery
will be contacting you on the day
following your surgery to follow-up on
your progress.
