NETWORK AND SERVICE INVENTORY
In today’s telecom market, operators need to provide an extensive
number of different services in a single network infrastructure in order
to fulfill their customers’ needs. Each service is usually provided by a
dedicated network element but also depends on many other network
resources as well as on cooperation with other services. Therefore,
network resources and services ought to be managed in a thoroughly
integrated manner.
Comarch Network and Service Inventory is a solution designed:
nn to store the complete information about all network resources and services,
nn to enable full utilization of a network’s potential in innovative ways
nn to create and manage new services.
BENEFITS
nn End-to-end view of multi-vendor, multitechnology networks and services
nn Shortened time-to-market for new services
nn Top-down view from services to the underlying network resources
nn Proven service reliability
nn Up-to-date information on network elements and their configuration
nn Visualization and control of distributed resources
nn Better utilization/productivity of resources
nn More efficient change management,
nn Quicker changes and implementation of innovations
nn Reduced network operational cost
nn Seamless integration with the existing environment
FUNCTIONALITIES
Network Inventory
Network Inventory is a fundamental component of Comarch Network and Service Inventory. It is responsible
for the representation of the current state of the telecom infrastructure managed by the OSS. The Network
Inventory component provides detailed information on network elements and enables the user to search the
database under a wide range of criteria.
Service Inventory Management
Service Inventory is responsible for modeling and storing information about resources and customer-facing
services. Advanced wizards and templates help an operator with everyday tasks related to the management of
existing services and planning new ones. Each service can be composed from other existing services or built on
top of network resources stored in the network inventory.
Thorough integration of the network and service inventory components allows an operator to smoothly drill
down from the top layer of the service into the underlying infrastructure.

Multi-layer Information Display
Network inventory data is stored and presented within a multi-layer information model, which can efficiently
visualize both the physical and logical view of the network. The information is displayed in a clear way that
conforms to TM Forum’s Shared Information/Data (SID) standard and ITU-T G.805, M.3100 specifications.
Network inventory information combined with the GIS maps extends the functionality of the system to another dimension. Thanks to the Last Mile Inventory component, all network infrastructure elements stored in the
system’s database may have additional visual representations on GIS maps.
Auto-Discovery, Reconciliation and Planning
The system supports automatic updates of network status. Thanks to the Auto-Discovery and Reconciliation
function, Comarch Network & Service Inventory keeps information up to date with the changes occurring in
the network.
All inventory objects are stored with full history which enables continual tracking of data changes. The system
can visualize past states of the network. In such a highly dynamic environment, accurately tracking network
and service changes becomes an indispensable feature.
Comarch Network and Service Inventory also supports future network planning, i.e. future changes in the
equipment, switch configuration, connections, services etc. Plans may be executed or applied which means
changes in network objects or the creation of new network objects actually takes place. Furthermore, planned
network objects become active in the inventory system.
Numbering Management
Comarch Network and Service Inventory provides a numbering management functionality which allows users
to keep records and maintain close control over numbered resources such as phone numbers or IP addresses.
The system stores technical and business-related information for each number and helps operators manage it.
OPEN ARCHITECTURE
Comarch Network and Service Inventory is an exceptionally open system. Operators can benefit from integrating other components of Comarch OSS Suite into the solution, including:
nn Comarch Fault Management
nn Comarch Network Performance Management
nn Comarch SLA Monitoring
Furthermore, integration with other Comarch products such as Comarch Service Activation or provides additional benefits.
