Hola Familias de Hamilton.
Ya han empezado a escuchar de la subasta anual Dar con el Corazón que será el 2 de marzo, 2013. Acaso se han
puesto a pensar como pueden apoyar la subasta? Quizá asistirá a la subasta. Quizá se apunte de voluntario para
el evento. Pero por favor tome un momento para pensar como puede ayudar el evento ahora y hacer la
diferencia.
Actualmente el comité esta enfocado en recaudar donativos. Cosas valiosas que se ofrecerán en las subastas por
Internet, silenciosa y en vivo. Estos donativos son los que ayudan para recaudar el dinero que la escuela necesita.
Lo mejor de todo es que todos pueden ayudar en conseguir donativos. Como? Aquí van algunas sugerencias:
Es dueño de un negocio? Conoce a alguien que sea dueño? Tiene algún talento especial? Conoce a alguien que
tenga un talento especial?
Jardinero, Limpieza de casas, catering, cuidado de mascotas, caminador de perros, reparación de muebles,
carpintero, handyman, electricista, lavando carros, sastre, pintor, reparación de computadoras, juegos de video,
decoración interior, contador, estilista, músico, venta de productos, clases de cocina, chef, etc.
Algunas ideas de lo que alguien pudiera donar:
- Lavar un carro una vez al mes durante 3 meses.
- Cortar el césped durante el verano
- Una semana de caminar el perro.
- Una clase de cocina para 10 personas para aprender como hacer un pastel, tamales, enchiladas o lo que sea.
- 3 horas de trabajo haciendo lo que sea su fuerte ya sea remodelación, limpieza general, mudanza, etc.
Conoce a alguien con una casa de verano o un timeshare que quisiera donar una semana o un fin de semana? O
tiene acceso a una experiencia única tal como un tour o una experiencia emocionante?
Frecuenta algún negocio al cual le pudiese pedir un donativo?
Quizá donde va a cenar, pregunte si quisieran dar alguna donación para la subasta. Cuando este comprando algún
regalo pregunte a la tienda si quisieran donar algo. Donde se encuentre o lo que este haciendo piense en como
ese negocio pudiese ayudar a nuestros niños y pregúnteles.
Algunas ideas:
- Si esta festejando un cumpleaños en un restaurante pregúnteles si quisieran donar algún vale. No tiene la carta
de donaciones, pídales su información, entréguelo al comité y el comité se pondrá en contacto con el restaurante.
- Anda catando vinos? Pregúntele al viñedo si quisieran donar algún tour del viñedo, muestra de vinos o alguna
botella de vino.
- Esta haciendo alguna compra? Pregunte si quisieran donar algo. Aceptamos vales, canastas o cualquier cosa.
- Recogiendo su ropa de la tintorería? Comprando comida para su mascota? Esta rentando un jumpy? Pregúntele
a esos negocios si quisieran hacer un donativo.
Tiene alguna idea pero no sabe como hacerle. Solo díganos y nosotros le ayudamos. Por razones de planificación
seria muy conveniente tener las donaciones para mediados de enero. Así lograremos ponerlas con tiempo en la
página de Internet.

Hello Hamilton Families,
You’ve started hearing about Hamilton’s annual Have a Heart fundraiser (March 2, 2013), but have you thought
about what can YOU do to help with the auction? Maybe you’ll attend the auction. Maybe you’ll volunteer at the
event. But please take a moment to think about how you make a difference right now!
Currently, the committee is focusing on gathering donations. You know - all the great things that we can offer in the
on-line, silent and live auctions. These donations are how the whole event raises the much needed funds for
Hamilton. The great thing about getting donations is that EVERYONE can help! How you ask? Here are some
suggestions:
Do you own or run a business? Or do you know someone who does?
Do you have a special talent? Or do you know someone who does?
Gardening, landscaping, house cleaning, catering, pet sitting, dog walking, furniture building, furniture repair,
handyman, electrician, car washing, sewing, house painting, computer repair, sound system installation, video
games, interior decorating, CPA service, living trust/will writing, retail products, hair styling, music & voice lessons,
cooking (lessons or provided foods), etc.
Here are some specific ideas that anyone can donate:
- A hand carwash once a month for 3 months
- Lawn mowing for the summer
- One week of dog walking
- A lesson for a group of 10 to make ravioli (or tamales, or wedding cakes, or samosas, or whatever) hosted in
the winners home
- 3 hours of labor to help with moving, remodeling, spring cleaning, etc
Do you know someone with a timeshare or vacation home that might donate a week or weekend? or
Do you have access to unique experiences? Like tours and “behind the scenes” experiences?
Do you GO to or frequent businesses that you can ask for donations?
When you’re out to dinner, ask if that restaurant is willing to donate to the auction. When you’re buying a birthday
present, ask if they’re willing to donate. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing... think of how that place can
help our kids. And ask.
Here are some specific ideas:
- Out to dinner for the Grandparent’s birthday? Ask the host if they can donate a gift certificate to the auction.
Don’t have the letter with you? Grab their business card and pass it to the committee – we can follow up!
- Wine tasting on a Saturday afternoon? Ask if the winery is willing to donate a tour/tasting/bottle to the auction.
- Shopping for a big holiday meal? Ask at customer service if they’ll donate to Hamilton. We’ll take gift
certificates, packaged baskets, or anything they’ll give.
- Picking up dry cleaning? Buying dog food? Renting a jumpy for a party? Ask if these places can donate too.
Have an idea and you’re not sure how to make it work? Just let us know and we can help!
For planning purposes, it’s REALLY helpful to have donations in by the end of January – this way we can get
things onto the website and ready for bidding.
