A Note From Paul Wenger, Principal
The middle of the school year is a great time for
families to check in with students on goals. Setting
academic and personal goals helps motivate,
energize, and focus students, and it is a valuable
skill that will benefit learners throughout their lives. I
would like to suggest that you read an article from
the National Association of Elementary School
Principals (NAESP) titled "Setting Goals.” It is
about helping families help students set and
achieve goals. The article is located at:

Box Tops/Campbell's/Tyson
Thank you so much for your continued support of
the Box Tops program! After our November
submission, we are ranked 10th in the area and
27th in the state! We are the only West Des Moines
school in the top 30 in the state. Our goal is to be
ranked in the top 10 in the state and to earn $4,000
for our school. We will be having another contest in
January with the winning class being able to pick a
reward from the rewards chart, so please keep
sending in your labels and Box Tops! Please

It's time to order your 2015-16 Jordan Creek
yearbook! Based on substantial price increases
with our previous publisher, the Yearbook
Committee found a new publisher:

available and ordering flexibility for our families!
We have several students that could use
assistance buying a yearbook. If your family can
help, please add a student using your eldest child’s
first and last name and grade level. Click "Donate
A Yearbook" when selecting a teacher.
Here is a bit of info about TreeRing and the
yearbooks:
 Eco-Friendly: All TreeRing books are printed
on recycled paper, AND they plant a tree for
every book they sell!
 No Financial Commitment: There are no
minimum orders, no commitments, and never
any leftover books. Families can purchase a
copy of their yearbook directly from TreeRing.
They only print what’s ordered, which means
there won’t be any wasted books or cost to our
PFC Committee and school.
 Premium Quality: full-color, high-quality books,
available in hard or soft cover, so families can
decide what best suits their style and budget

Classroom Interruptions
We would like to remind everyone that instructional
time at Jordan Creek is a priority. Interruptions to
the classrooms must be kept to a minimum.
Visits to your child’s classroom should be arranged
with your child’s teacher. Please call or email to
arrange a time. Schedules may occasionally
change and it is helpful to arrange a time to visit.
Teachers are not free for drop-in visits while they
are teaching. Thank you for your courtesy.
Attendance Policy
We would like to remind you that our school day
starts at 9:05 a.m. The first bell (when students
may enter the building) is at 8:55 a.m. If a student
is not in their seat by 9:05 a.m. they will be counted
absent.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Parents are encouraged to activate their Infinite
Campus Parent Portal account. The Parent Portal
is an online tool for parents to access their
students’ information in real-time.
Your Parent Portal account also contains links that
allow you to easily pay school fees, including bus
fees, and add money to your child’s lunch account.
Once your account is created, you will have the
ability to check your personal information in Infinite
Campus and make changes to your cell phone
number and/or email address, if necessary. Your
account also gives you access to set your personal
preferences for how you should be contacted for
emergencies.
If you would like to activate your Parent Portal
Account and need an activation key, or have
forgotten your username and/or password, please

required information and instructions will be
emailed to you.

Parent Online Instructions
If you would like to be able to view your child’s
lunch account, make payments and receive an
email when your child’s account balance is low,
follow the steps below:








Log on to the district website, www.wdmcs.org.
Select the ‘Parent’ tab at the top.
Select ‘Pay for School Lunches Instructions’ or
‘Make a Payment.’
Select ‘Pay Breakfast and Lunch Fees.’
Select ‘Food Service Payment.’
Enter dollar amount.
Enter last name.
Enter Student ID Number and follow the
payment prompts.
A Note from Your School Counselor…
Jordan Creek Giving Tree
A HUGE thank you to anyone who donated to our
Jordan Creek Giving Tree this past week. Kids
Care Club members helped me bag/box up all the
collected items during their recess time. We took all
our collected items to West Des Moines Human
Services.
Due to the generosity of Jordan Creek families, we
made a donation of 341 items that included coats,
hats, mittens and gloves, scarves, boots, shoes,
shirts, pants, sweaters and sweatshirts, pajamas,
socks, and underwear, along with many toys,
games, stuffed animals, frames, makeup, perfume,
cologne, chocolates, and a variety of personal care
items. We also received 24 different gift cards that
had a total value of $545 and donated all of them to
West Des Moines Human Services to give out to
their families in need this holiday season as well.
THANK YOU again Jordan Creek for your
generosity! It truly is in giving that we receive!

emergencia.

UN MILLON DE GRACIAS a todos aquellos que
donaron al Árbol de Donaciones esta semana pasada.
El Club Kids Care ayudó a colocar todo en cajas durante
su recreo. Llevamos todos los artículos a Servicios
Humanos en West Des Moines.
Gracias a la generosidad de las familias de Jordan

incluyendo chamarras, gorras, guantes, bufandas,
botas, zapatos, camias, pantalones, pijamas, medias y
ropa interior incluyendo juguetes, juegos, maquillaje,

artículos de aseo personal. También recibimos 24
tarjetas de regalos diferentes con un valor de $545.
Donamos todo al Departamento de Servidos Humanos
donde ellos a su vez podrán donar a familias
necesitadas durante estas fechas festivas.
