Teacher of the Month
I. Purpose
The Maya Angelou Teacher of the Month program is designed to recognize outstanding
teachers for their contributions to our school, excellence in the classroom, leadership,
motivation, creativity and imagination, etc. Each month, the school will recognize one
teacher from Maya Angelou Elementary. Nominations may be submitted by students and
parents. Regardless of the outcome, the real tribute of the award is the nomination. It
symbolizes the appreciation the students and parents have for its teachers. All teachers
nominated will receive a copy of their nomination.
II. Nominations
Nomination forms will be available in the Maya Angelou office. Nominations must be
turned in to the office by the last day of each month. The winning teacher will be awarded
the following month.
III. Selection & Presentation
The PTO will select a winner by random draw on the 1st Thursday of the month. The
school principal will be notified as soon as the winner has been selected. The winner will be
announced in the school newsletter.
IV. Rewards
Teacher of the Month recipients will be rewarded with:
 A copy of their nomination
 Recognition at Maya Angelou
 Name and article in the school newsletter
 Teacher of the Month trophy (to be displayed for 1 month)
 Gift certificate

Maestro del Mes
I. Propósito
El programa maestro/a del mes se ha diseñado para reconocer a los maestros por sus
contribuciones a nuestra escuela, la excelencia en la clase, el liderazgo, la motivación, la
creatividad y la imaginación, etc. Cada mes, la escuela va a reconocer un maestro/a de la
Escuela Primaria Maya Angelou. Las candidaturas podrán ser presentadas por los
estudiantes y padres de familia. Independientemente del resultado, el tributo real del premio
es la nominación. Simboliza el reconocimiento que los estudiantes y los padres tienen por
sus maestros/as. Todos los maestros nominados recibirán una copia de su nombramiento.
II. nominaciones
Los formularios de postulación estarán disponibles en la oficina de Maya Angelou. Las
nominaciones deben ser entregadas a la oficina antes del último día de cada mes. El maestro
ganador recibirá el premio el siguiente mes.
III. Selección y Presentación
El PTO seleccionará un ganador por sorteo el primer jueves del mes. La directora de la
escuela será notificada tan pronto que el ganador ha sido seleccionado. El ganador será
anunciado en el boletín de la escuela.
IV. Recompensas
Los premios para el maestro del mes serán:
• Una copia de su nombramiento
• Reconocimiento de Maya Angelou
• Nombre y artículo en el boletín de la escuela
• Trofeo del Maestro del Mes (que se mostrará durante un mes)
• Certificado de regalo
