Spanish for Spanish Speakers – Semester 1
Bienvenidos! Welcome! The purpose of this course is to enable students whose heritage language is
Spanish to develop, maintain, and enhance proficiency in their home language by reinforcing and
acquiring skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, including the fundamentals of Spanish
grammar. Course content reflects the cultural values of Spanish language and societies. The course
enables students to gain a better understanding of the nature of their heritage language. Students also
increase their awareness and appreciation of Hispanic cultures. Spanish is used exclusively in the
course.
